Always a bit skeptical about us linked with previous targets in a year our recruitment was a bit of a sham but tbf...this guy can play a bit.

A quick, technical, pass and move type player that spreads the ball about very nicely - maybe better than Calmac at it...

Didn't look out of place against the Brazil champs either in the club world cup back in February even though he was played left wing. Would be an interesting signing if this turns out not to be agent bullshit.

It's a nothing burger. We are not paying £4M for a player we could have got for
£300,000 two years ago.
Apart from that he does not fit the profile. We have a surplus of flair midfielders.

 

While the former could be true, I disagree with the latter. I actually really like the cut of this guy.

I wouldn't shell out that much for him either...there's definitely question marks about him in regards to why no one seems to be genuinely going in for him if he's that good (especially given he's 26 now), the sudden asking price increase, the agent stuff, why he's not starting every game etc but the guy is undoubtedly a gifted player and I can see why. He's comfortably topping a lot of chance creation metrics in the league and he's fun to watch with his quick, one/two pass and move style.

I'd say he's worth a punt if we can get him much cheaper. Youtube as always, only skims the surface of what a player is all about. Haksabanovic didn't exactly set all this forum alight with his highlight reel.

Celtic ARE in the running to sign Egyptian playmaker Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdy - but have been joined by Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas in the hunt, according to the player's agent.

Ange Postecoglou has added two new defenders to his ranks for January already with Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston signing up and attentions now turn to further up the pitch. A new striker is on the agenda as Record Sport understands Giorgos Giakoumakis is increasingly likely to be on his way, while another creative midfielder shouldn't be ruled out as they look to ram home their commanding lead in the Premiership


They have been heavily linked with Afsha and now it seems the Hoops have been joined by Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray and Besiktas. His agent Abdelrahman Ismail told Egyptian radio: "Besiktas, Galatasaray and Celtic are competing to sign Mohamed Magdy Afsha."



Another of his representatives previously told Football Scotland there had been interest from Parkhead. His club manager at Al Ahly had insisted he wasn't for sale only for the board to go over his head days later and slap a price tag of around £4million on his head and that's what Celtic would likely need to fork out to land him.

Magdy, who goes by the nickname 'Afsha', has 29 goals in 146 appearances for Al Ahly and helped them to two Asian Champions Leagues among a host of honours in Egypt. He now seems set to try himself in Europe but whether that will be in Scotland, Turkey or elsewhere remains to be seen.

 

I think we need Turnbull tbh. Can't have a full squad of non-homegrown players
