Guys clearly a waster but is it normal to raid someone’s house who is associated with gambling in sport as if they’re a drug dealer, what were they looking for? Bookies slips?

My first thought for a raid like that was to do with bet fixing, which I think is quite serious because it could be linked to organised crime.

    But who knows?

Even at that it seems heavy handed. I take it there was a potential need to co-ordinate across several raids but still don't see the need.

Griffith has obviously * up at every turn but that sort of approach feels more about creating newspaper headlines than anything else.

Maybe later details will prove me wrong :39:

Honestly if I had to bet I would say you’re probably right.

This doesn't sound good. A coordinated police raid sounds far more serious than footballers breaking football betting rules.

A lot of the time it's directly linked to the top of the drugs game..

No saying that's what's happened here. I've only just read it there..

He really should've just stayed away for a longer spell in Australia or wherever though. I know his weans are dotted about all over Scotland but he's clearly damaged goods, tarnished and forever * up..

If they were serious about corruption and manipulation of Scottish games they would have been kicking down the doors of the * that have been doing VAR on our games.

Love the way the rags always print ex-celtic player. Why not former Scotlsnd International? Would rather try and damage clubs name rather than the SFA?

Leigh Griffiths has been offered a route back to football by ambitious Irish second tier side Waterford.

The former Celtic and Scotland striker is currently without a club since a stint at Australian outfit Mandurah City.

He was arrested three weeks ago by police investigating sports gambling before being released without charge.

And he's been offered a chance to return to football at Irish First Division side Waterford, who are set to appoint former Stoke City and Ipswich Town star Jon Walters as director of football.

Waterford are owned by Fleetwood Town chief Andy Pilley, who appointed former Celtic hero Scott Brown as manager in the summer.

They are desperate to return to the top flight after being relegated last season in a relegation play-off and see former Scotland star Griffiths as a marquee signing for the new season, which begins in February with an away trip to Wexford.

The 32-year-old last played for Falkirk, before his spell Down Under and netted twice in 12 league games for the Bairns in their League One campaign last season.

He boasts an impressive career record of 180 league goals in 286 starts for Livingston, Dundee, Hibs, Wolves, Celtic and Falkirk.

Leigh Griffiths has made his long-awaited return to football.

The former Celtic striker has headed back Down Under to sign for Mandurah City for the remainder of their 2023 season.

The Australian semi-professional side plays in the WA State League Division 1.

The ex-Scotland international played twice for the team at the end of their 2022 season.

He has not played for a professional club since leaving a spell in League One with Falkirk last season.

He had been training with Livingston and then Waterford in Ireland.

However, Griffiths will now make his way across the world for his next opportunity in football.

Head Coach John Baird said: “I am very pleased for everyone involved with the club. To bring Leigh back is a credit and a display of the hard work everyone behind the scenes is putting in.

"Leigh wanted to come back after understanding our goals for the 2023 season. Leigh’s ability on the pitch is undoubtable.

"His experience speaks for itself and his signing is an opportunity for him to get back to enjoying his football in a positive and competitive environment.

"I have had Australian internationals contacting me asking to come down and train because they want to see Leigh play.”

This was a decent watch. The lad was a goal machine but he just couldn't help but get himself into trouble.
