I'm wholly underwhelmed by it. Might change when the games start broadcasting though.

It is going to be an absolute * show the whole way through i think. Will be on mute with music on the background. Should be some decent games and be amazed if theres an upset anywhere as a lot of the teams in this are *.

When was this host nation announced?

Why are certain people just piping up now?

As far as I’m aware, corruption, and the persecution of gays has occurred there since before last week. Where have all the activists been hiding?

2010 it was announced. People brought it up at the time but nowhere near the media coverage.

So, with Budweiser potentially suing FIFA over the lack of alcohol in stadiums and around them, can I now get fired into my Budweiser kegs? hahahaha

That will be the only way FIFA will learn, but it is sad that alcohol sales is what will do it and not modern day slavery and bigotry.

Not the first country to host a World Cup while homosexuality was illegal. England 66?

The average viewer boycotting obviously isn’t going to matter.

It would’ve been great to see a few major nations announce that they wouldn’t be taking part years ago. They had the power to really instigate change, and shine a spotlight on an abhorrent regime, but money talks.

There’s absolutely no morals in football where the bottom line figure is likely to be affected…

Countries/nations or their FAs could have refused to participate…

Players could refuse… not one has.

TV companies could have refused to take coverage.

Potential sponsors could have taken a stand by not participating.

Fans could simply NOT travel there.

No… none of that happening because those things affect money and personal gratification….

Worthless lip-service (only in reaction to those brave enough to raise their voice), kneeling and pointless armbands… that’s what we need to get the message across and show just how much the whole event should be despised..

No coincidence that none of those things impacts on anybody involved in terms of money or personal exposure…

Football makes me feel sick right now.

    Just can't get enough
Seen that * linneker bumping his gums, so I thought right I'll stop buying Walkers crisps.
    Then I remembered they're * and I haven't bought any for years.

Aren't there any half decent companies we could boycott?

At times I wish I didn't like Celtic so much or that a Saudi Prince would buy the club to allow me to give up on the sport.

Qatar is an abhorrent country. But where does it end if players and TV companies start announcing they are boycotting tournaments?

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and no one gave a * that they had the 2018 World Cup. The narrative surrounding that was around their hooligans more than anything.

The USA and the UK, have been responsible for illegal wars and millions of deaths in recent years, and supply some of the most brutal regimes in the world with arms and aid. Do we boycott all football here as well, or if they managed to get a bud accepted for a tournament here?

I support that. First step, let's stop playing political entities against each other :)

Celtic supporters waving Palestinian flags?? Bit hypocritical there , don’t you think.
I support Celtic supporters stance on Palestine but can’t say and do one thing and then tell others to not do the same thing. Can’t have it both ways.

Absolutely spot on and the most intelligent thing I've read in here for a while , it's the fact that people are so so easily led by media moral veiws , are you fkn kidding me ,after the * they fed us over the years, make your own fkn minds up and backwards or not its their country England are in ,wot rights do they have to force their veiws on others , if England feel so strongly then remove themselves, its that simple then we see how strongly they really feel alongside the public .
