Best athletes you've seen playing for Celtic

Are footballers better athletes in general now though? Wonder would the gap between him and modern footballers be as big as it was then.

Even taking that into consideration I’d say he’s still the fastest since I’ve started watching tbf.

 

I didn't contribute to the thread because everyone I'd pick has already been posted. But Agathe is easily the fastest player I've seen for Celtic, and he was doing that despite having problems with his knees.

 

Aye guy was electric , pound for pound getting him for 50,000 was one of the best bit of business ever, in that team we got larrson moravcik and agathe for 1M combined,unreal when you think probably combined worth around 50M easily

 

Most sportsmen in general are better athletes. Sports science and training methodologies evolve. For example the person getting bronze in a 100m would likely have won it 20 years ago.
Because of that it isn't wrong to say Agathe as top athlete as at the time he was faster than his contemporaries which is all you can judge on.

 

Agathe is easily the quickest player I've seen for us. Ridiculous how he could leave someone for dead when they had 5 yards on him..

No the fastest but over a distance Samaras was deceptively very quick. Long strides over a distance and beat most in full flight..

 

That's my thoughts when I see other names mentioned. Never seen pace like it and not always over short bursts. My memory is him catching people with massive head starts over 5, 10 up to 40 - 50 metres.

The fact his nickname was beep beep says it all.

 

I think Bellamy is the closest to him at least over the first ten yards and Agathe would still smoke him.

Going back to watch the Juventus game, Zambrotta in his full career never got a roasting as much as he did then.

A world class full back and he just didn’t have a clue how to deal with it. It’s glorious to see.

Can remember a Hun game Kent having about 15 yards on him and him strolling by him to take the ball. And that Goths quick.

 

Not sure if it’s in that video as haven’t watched it yet but the assist he got away vs Stuttgart for Sutton was outrageous. Made the defender look like a boy.
