Can’t post pics, but, as you know, I like my bird of prey spotting on lamp posts at side of motorways etc

recently on way toward Johnstone I’ve noticed two Grey Herons perched on lampposts either side of the dual carriage way. Not often you see them like that. I know there is the stream that runs alongside the road. Must be full of food for them.

    Anyway, lovely to see.

    Great pics as usual everyone!

A few from last weekend, the weather has been feckin terrible these last few weeks, it feels like there's been endless rain and dark overcast skies, i went out to Colgagh on Saturday for a look and it turned out a beautiful calm sunny morning, the Whooper Swans were active with a family flying away from the loch and another coming in, maybe they're using the wee loch as a staging post on their long journey.
There has been no sight of the resident Swan family for a couple of weeks but they seem to have left one cygnet behind, it's a sorry sight floating around on its own when it was one of six cygnets since spring.
there's a few tufted Ducks around and some Widgeon on the far side, hopefully the weekend mornings to come will have favourable weather for an outing.

The local pair of Peregrines were showing well today over my local patch, i also enjoyed a neat dozen strong flock of handsome Redwing.

    Nice.
Still looking out for them this winter.
Keep your eyes peeled too for migrating fieldfares and waxwings.

Tragic Jeannie. It's a place I go to regularly, even just for a walk around the loch. I pray they can find a solution to the problem before it gets any worse. I saw the bird-flu report on Autumnwatch couple of weeks ago. That was a truly sad report. Hopefully something can be done to save the birds.

That's awful Jeannie, hope to Christ it doesn't affect all the birds there.
