Should have stayed with us, would probably be playing every week at least for half an hour as a sub.

 

Big step for him! Gutted we couldn't keep him. (Youth football in this country's just drastic)

 

Just the money really that we'll be losing all those youth players at 16/17. Guys like him would probably rather stay and get games for Celtic but when they are only going to get like £1-2k a week on a 3 year deal from us at best and Bayern/Liverpool/Man Ciy come in with 4/5 year deals on £5-10k a week, they probably can't turn it down knowing it will take 2-3 year to see that money at Celtic and it might not even happen if they get an injury happened to plenty of guys before like John Kennedy, Charlie Grant, Simon Ferry, Kerr McInroy promising youngsters that ended up with bad injuries and out for a couple of year and your * when you can guarentee yourself £1-2million by 20 by signing for those teams.

In terms of them getting opportunities in our 1st team, Celtic always seem to be in a position where we need '1st Team ready' players. Like the rebuild we just went through, and now we are all saying we need 'Champs League Ready' players after this campaign. These needs over the past few years limit any chance of us being able to give our youngsters opportunities. IMO

Edit: Issues are all our own doing as well, defo avoidable.

Reminds me a lot of Wayne Rooney the way he plays. So powerful and explosive for his age.

 

That champions league players line is a shortcut and bullshit. We need to keep the entire team together. They'll only get better. Imagine we still has Tierney, VVD etc suddenly we're in the last 8. Ofcourse we will sell and restart. Such a * cycle.

 

Yeah, it's a cycle we just have to get used to eh! I'm not one for saying we need champs league ready players but that's the general message I'm getting from a lot of fans. This current teams young and inexperienced in the big comp, if we keep them ALL for next season we will do better. But that's a big IF.

 

You can say that of so many teams, no club will keep top talents like those named there for a prolonged period unless you are at the top of the top and paying crazy money. We can't do that, simple as. What we should be doing is nurturing youth talent and setting clear pathways, but that's a challenge because of a lack of opportunity for youth in the nation and the pressures to win in our team. Ideally we'd be giving one or 2 of the bench places to youth to give them a chance could the match condition allow but we don't really do that.

We want to maintain a squad as much as possible but the reality is the best players will be on a 2-3 year timing with us at best really, anything beyond that is a bonus.

 

Made the right call moving there I think. Could work perfectly for him liverpool being * this year, could get the call up if he keeps performing like he is

 

This guy is obviously player at the level he's playing at but we've seen all this before from young players - until he starts banging in the goals and putting in top performances for Liverpool (or any other top level side) im not going to start crying about how we've lost out on an amazing player - Time will tell

 

He'll get a first team game in the next year I think and probably a full national cap within the next 2..

100% mate. Got that Rooney vibe of just being a man among boys. He'll be a Liverpool squad player and Scotland player within 2 years.

 

Can see him getting minutes against Derby next week

 

He’ll probably get some minutes with the first team at some point, most likely in a cup match or in garbage time. Then I’d expect him to be loaned out to a championship club or similar. If it doesn’t work out they’ll punt him before his contract is up(probably after a couple of extensions).
