I gona show you how some peoples minds works (including my own) rather than yours. Your implying Leigh is doing this because he needs cash. Leigh bought thst house for just under 400k. He's now selling it for over 600k. I've seen it! It's his private residence which is tax free. I'll let you do the maths on this one shall I? Or will I do it for you. Thsts over 200k profit! If he was to do this once every 2 years, thsts isn't a bad bit of business and we'll enough to keep his family ticking over. So to me, he ain't that daft as some people think he is. At a guess since we're all playing the guessing game, I'd say he'd have more investments in property thst would be bring in more profits. Yes these will be taxed at a higher rate of tax because it's a capital gains tax but it'll still be profit.

Has he got multiple homes? What you are saying would make some sense if that's true. Did his property go up £200k in 2 years is my other thought?

Don't see many * investors making too much money in the property market in the next few years, so not so sure it is repeatable by Griffiths. Not that I know him at all so could be wrong.

Do feel sorry for Leigh but it's largely self-inflicted. The whole scandal thing would have been forgotten if he could still score goals but it's pretty common knowledge he wasn't focusing on his football prior to that either. If he'd have kept on the straight and narrow, he'd probably still be the best Scottish striker and would have played at the Euros etc. Such a waste.

Completely different set of circumstances. The market has gone up about 15% since 2020. Then add in the fact that they were going for over 20% above the new asking price. You're 35% over the initial price he bought his house for. So, yes. £200k profit in theory. But if he was to try and buy another house at £400k, he wouldn't be getting the sort of house he bought years ago. Completely different market.

I dont have any sympathy for him. He have the talent, but obviously not training hard enough to keep playing at a good level. That is just being lazy.

Sure, now is probably the last good time to sell, but you can’t keep buying and selling property making £200k every two years mate.

The market is on its way down so likely whatever he buys next he would need to sell at a loss in two years. He’ll also be buying at an equally inflated +20% unless he’s found a good bargain somewhere, which is possible.

Some people lose all their money investing in property. It’s not a sure thing - that’s a fallacy driven by a bull market like the one we’re just about to leave.

He’s probably selling it to move back to Edinburgh. Be closer to family.

Greenock Morton are looking at the option of bringing Leigh Griffiths to Cappielow.

The former Celtic striker has found it difficult in recent times after leaving the Hoops and has been in training with Livingston in a bid to boost his fitness and win a deal elsewhere. The 32-year-old has most recently turned out for Mandurah City in Australia's Football West State League Division but he wants to get his career back on track.

Griffiths spent time at Falkirk and Dundeeafter having his Hoops deal ripped up and still hopes to find a club he can call his home after a difficult stint out of the game.

Ton boss Dougie Imrie is close with Livi'sDavid Martindale and Football Scotlandunderstands a marquee signing at Cappielow is something the manager hopes to do as he chases Premiership promotion from the second tier.

It is understood a possible short-term offer could be on the table from the January window - when Griff can join a new club - until the summer.

The Greenock outfit sit second the Championship with just one point separating them from the summit as Ayr United have also started the campaign strongly with eight wins from 16.

And the feeling is if Griffiths can be whipped into shape and find any sort of form he has previously captured in his career the striker could potentially help Ton finally realise their dream if they can maintain their form.

He'd be battling it out with the likes of Jai Quitongo and Robbie Muirhead but the thought is that Griffiths would be up for the challenge having been given a reality check in recent times in terms of his career and what's left for him to experience in the game.

Ex Celtic star Leigh Griffiths' was arrestedon Thursday morning as part of a police probeinto gambling in sport. The 32-year-old was later released without charge after his home was searched by detectives in an early morning raid. Officers descended on the £675,000 mansion in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, at around 7am.

It's believed more than 10 officers attended the property. Three uniformed cops and eight from CID are said to have been involved in the search of the plush detached villa, which is currently up for sale. The operation is understood to have lasted for around two-and-a-half hours, with the police leaving the scene at around 9.30am.

Uniformed officers also used torches to peer into vehicles parked in the quiet cul-de-sac. Sources say neighbours in the upmarket area were shocked by the heavy police presence. One insider said: "The street was full of police cars and a van. They were inside the house and searching the cars in the driveway.

"It was still dark and the police were using torches. Whatever they were doing, they weren't discreet about it. It was chaotic. They were still there when people were going to work. We think Griffiths was inside the house when police arrived. His car was parked outside."

The striker also played for Livingston, Dundee, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hibernian and Falkirk and has earned 22 caps for Scotland. Two other men were arrested in linked raids. The 35-year-old and 37-year-old were detained following searches of properties in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, and Airdrie, Lanarkshire. They were also released without charge.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following a pre-planned police operation on Thursday, 1 December, three men, aged 37, 35 and 32, were arrested in the Bothwell, Bonnyrigg and Airdrie areas in connection with an investigation into alleged gambling incidents in sport. All three men were released without charge pending further enquiries."
