Good timing in the tackle is his best attribute, from what I can see. So many times he goes down instead of trying to muscle an opposing player off, but the tackles are clean anyway. Decent at cutting out crosses as well. Is he only a CB? Asking because I could see Ange wanting to play him at DMF.

ANGE Postecoglou tonight refused to confirm reports that Celtic were set to sign Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi from Vissel Kobe in the next transfer window.

However, the Parkhead manager confessed he is hopeful of bringing in new recruits who can his side’s chances of landing domestic silverware this season in the near future.

“We have gone early on the January market haven’t we?” he said. “It’s just into November, so I’ve a lot of talking about that ahead.

“As I said before we have a strategy in place which I am really comfortable with in terms of making sure we are always looking to improve our squad and improve the way we do things.

With Kobayashi coming in, where does Jenz fit in next season? Will we spend £2-3m on Jenz also, or will that kind of money be of better use elsewhere on the pitch?

Where he should have been from the start, backup I'd imagine.

    Ccv
    Starfelt
    Kobayashi
    Jenz

    Welsh

Welsh isn't good enough to be proper back up, but 5th choice I'd say he's more than capable. We need 4 reliable CBs to choose from

I feel like we're trying to prepare for a CCV departure if a big offer comes in. Ange is clearly a planner and doesn't want to be caught short if we need to sell players.

In that context, this makes sense. We can see if Jenz or Kobayashi have what it takes while CCV is here. If we sell him, we won't be completely lost while we try and bring in a replacement.

Not just Ange but the club, I bet there are people making decisions who don't want another Boyata situation. I mean we wouldn't have to let him go free as he still has 3.5 years on his contract but WC could give CCV his highest ever value, if he plays, and if he wants to go I don't think stopping players gives a good return in the long run.

This unfortunately. We wont keep CCV for long as he is a world class CB.

Maybe not but it seems the decision will be entirely ours so the net effect is the same.

Obviously forward planning of some sort and tbh it's * fantastic to see. Ange really is planning two/three windows in advance. Never felt so relaxed about the future of the club.

We'll definitely lose a defensive player over the next few windows, so I think we're just looking at progressive structuring being done behind the scenes - someone who can push at the squad now, with potential to push on into the position or replace smoothly if injury/transfer occurs...

There's that old saying about looking after the pennies and then the pounds will look after themselves... I think if we have a constant panel of good players embedded across all locations of the pitch, where we can flip anyone for a consistent replacement, then we'll start seeing those few with genuine potential rise up to higher levels (Kyogo, Abada, ) or we can afford to genuinely bring in a quality player for higher values (Jota, CCV, JJ) and create a conveyor of progress to hopefully bigger again.

It's all about saturating the squad with a quality density that can be built on... Don't know enough to say with any certainty, but he's definitely got good category 1 potential

Not really... Only 2 ways to beat the Kobayashi Maru, and one of them was cheating... And we all know how that goes in Scotland :39:
