boy isn't good enough to nice to be a cb easily knocked off ball and bullied in the air needs to go elsewhere

 

Finally mustered up some courage to re-watch the highlights. There's probably an argument Welsh was fouled and it may have been looked at by VAR if it was in, but the ease in which he was pushed aside for that 2nd goal was pathetic. He looks quite well built aswell...

I'm not saying get rid of the guy after one bad game but he needs to be much stronger.

Jenz aswell.

 

Not defending him as he has been bullied or outmuscled too often for me in the past but Dermot Gallagher believes it would have been ruled out with VAR for a foul on Welsh.

At the end of the day we weren’t good enough as a whole but don’t want to be relying on Welsh for too long to fill in. Jenz for me the jury is still out.

 

Yeah it wouldn't have made a difference in the end anyway. We could have played on for another 3 hours and still not scored.

There was definitely a push - but Welsh was so soft it's hard to tell what the outcome would have been. I guess by letter of the law it's still a foul and gets disallowed. Either way Welsh needs to do far better there.

Jenz, for a guy at 6'4, has a really * jump on him. He should have won the header in the lead up to that goal.

 

I haven't watched it back, but was he not jumping when he was pushed? Hard to be strong when you aren't attached to the ground.

Overall we were weak and there were problems all over the park. I don't want to lay it at any one person's feet.

 

Against livi away when we got beat he let man in he's simply not good enough should have went to Italy.

 

Scales looks a far better option for 4th choice.

Suspect only reason he's still here instead is to fill quota for Europe

 

Come on, Welsh is better than Scales.

 

Said this a while ago, but he needs to go out and loan and actually play and get more experience. We’re ruining him. I’m not sure he’ll ever be good enough to be the main cb but if he doesn’t go on loan and get some proper experience, he’ll never be good enough to play here as the main cb.

 

A loan to killmarnock worked for ajer. Send him to a defensive team that focuses on parking a bus to improve his actual defending. The going forward stuff we can teach, but the fact we don't do much defending doesn't help learning how to actually defend.

 

I actually think if it hadn’t been for lack of home grown players and the fact we already had quite a bit of transfer activity we wanted to do that we may have entertained the Udinese and Toulouse interest.

I do think the jury is still out on whether to spend the money on Jenz or not too. Obviously dependent on departures of first team players but a centre back comfortable on the left side who is good on the ball and physically sound would be the next area we should really target for an upgrade.

 

He needs a full season of games behind him, being a sporadic back up does no favours for him or us.

 

Looking at how Jack Hendry has been doing I don't think we should be too quick to write of Welsh.
If he's not getting a decent amount of game time by Jan, give him a loan spell.

 

Would get bullied playing in the woman's team.

Will never ever make it here. Get him to * in January and bring in someone we can actually rely on when others are out or need a rest

 

He made one very poor pass at the start of the second half which put us right under the cosh, but aside from that I didn't think he was too bad. Found his man with most of his passes and started a good few of our attacks. He does struggle to win aerial battles though.

 

Whole team and support look fair nervier with him in it.

Lost aerial battle all day allowing them to get up the park.

 

A loan to a decent level league would do him wonders. He's got some good attributes but needs to sharpen up parts of his game as well, as would most centre backs his age.

 

He's not going to grow 3 or 4 inches on loan

 

Really hard watch today.
