Mcgregor puts in a better shift than mcstay and is a better box to box midfielder than mcstay but as far footballing ability mcstay passing ability more often than not defence splitting passes, dribbling ability and his striking of a ball on target at goal was definitely a level above mcgregor, mcstay unfortunate from about 88-97, Huns were spending cash they didn’t have on top English international s, and guys like laudrup gascoigne and the likes and we were buying guys like malky McKay, Willie falconer, Darren Jackson and the likes , he was still good but was brilliant from 82-88 alongside guys like mcgrain, murdo McLeod, Tommy burns, provan, big aitken and mcclair when we had a right good team around him,

He could probably play for a top side IMO, at least as a squad player. I just don't think he'd look out of place when Klopp and Pep have used players like Milner, Henderson and Delph effectively.

Better a rest due to a suspension, than an injury. If only CCV had a 1 game break at some point, perhaps his injury could've been avoided.

    Ange on Cal Mac

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Did what needed to be done. Boot on other foot if it hadn’t been a red we would be * raging.

1 game of rest, not a bad thing tbh. That’s why we have a squad.

Done what anyone would’ve done in that situation. He started every game for club and country for a while now a wee rest will do him good. Be good to see Abildgaard get a start v St Johnstone.

Should be doing, not everyone has the awareness of needing to though. Especially in the team we have just now sometimes we’re too nice

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has commented on referee John Beaton's decision to send off Callum McGregor against Motherwell.

The Hoops defeated Well 2-1 at Parkhead to remain top of the Premiership thanks to goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate.

Captain McGregor saw red late in the game for hauling down Steelmen striker Louis Moult as he attempted to run through on goal after intercepting a slack Hatate pass.

While Postecoglou stressed he accepted the ruling, Celtic centre-back Stephen Welsh appeared to be in the vicinity of the incident leading the manager to ponder the decision when asked about it

Questioned if he had any complaints about the flashpoint, Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound: "Hard to see it but from my angle I thought we had a covering player. But the referee's made that decision so we've just got to cop it."
