If it's true CCV is out injured for 6 weeks, then Abildgaard is capable of playing at centre back. Did well in there against CSKA Moscow. Would try and get him some game time tomorrow even if it's only 15 minutes and maybe a couple of bounce games during the break to get him upto speed asap.

Souza would have been fit to play and again we don't actually know for sure if he was a player Ange wanted or the board.

Grand old team to play for
Hope the big man was sitting on the bench today thinking about how he can come in and shore things up playing at centre back.

First sign of him totally underestimating Scottish opposition. Can't be a habit.

How much less match fit can this lad be than Mooy though and there was no hanging about getting game time for him.

Needs to come in soon for me. The lack of height and aggression is still evident and needed in certain games.

If it’s true he can play centre back as well as DCM. He may be a very good option for us there given his physicality, reading of the game and looks to have a decent long ball on him. Not to mention he is left footed.

That's very interesting, I didn't know he could play centre back.
It would definitely be in our interest to try and get him up to speed to see if could partner Jenz at short notice.
Anybody but Welsh is where I am at now.

I think he's only played there 3 or 4 times, i'm guessing in an emergency, but here's a game he's playing left centre back against CSKA and doesn't look out of place.

How did it happen that Celtic - a participant in the group stage of this Champions League - turns into a farm club of Rubin?

“It all started with the sale of Karl Starfelt last summer. Then they were closely interested in Khakshabanovich and in parallel they developed an interest in Abildgor. It is interesting that this is happening, but there is no conspiracy theory in this. Maybe we have the same views on the players. Although it would be better if our views coincided with Manchester City.

    - When Abildgor left for Celtic after Haksabanovic, the club said that he behaved like a real captain. What does it mean?

He suspended his contract and went to Celtic. We decided to make it so that in a year Rubin could get a much better offer for him. Or Oliver could come back and play for us next summer. Abildgor himself was for such two options and acted like a human being. He discussed every step with the club, because it is important for him that Rubin get as much benefit as possible from his future . We are immensely grateful to him, because he could do nothing of this.

He only has 1 year left on his deal next summer so they're not gonna get a "much better offer".

The message he sent when he signed for us suggested he ain’t going back there to play. If Russian sanctions remain in place he will be a free agent effectively, that’s how they lost Hwang in-Beon to Olympiakos this year.

My worry is if he turns out a player it’s not us he ends up at but I suppose it means he’s been good which is a positive.

Just watching back a video of his highlights there and we could have done with him to help out the CB with the St Mirren strikers as he looks a good physical presence and strong in the air as well as in his all round defensive play. Hopefully he’s good to go after the internationals.

Off topic a little but was always low key hoping we'd nip in and get Hwang from Rubin. He's a good player. Excellent passing range, very Calmac-like in the 6 and the energy to go box to box if played in the 8.
