They are some statistics. Talk of a beast of a DM is overrated, Cal is more than equipped to handle the role for us.

 

Your so on the money here those stats are frighteningly good even not knowing they stats if you watched the game he was outstanding always spurring the team on aswell. Mcgregors first UCL game as captain and he absolutely smashed it against the best team on the planet

 

TBH, when you look at those stats, you wonder if they are over 2 or 3 games they are that good. They are computer game type stats, totally ridiculous. Cal is the beast.

That just shouldn't happen from your 6, diving in on the halfway line, nowhere near it and they're in with what, 1 pass and scoring with zero protection..

 

He was excellent last week against Real but he's caught out far too often at this level.

Hopefully the Danish guy can come in and we can move him up.

 

It’s probably his biggest weakness, he does dive into challenges and can leave us exposed as the deepest lying midfield player. Yesterday is a perfect example. Hold the player up, usher him into a space where he can’t hurt us.

McGregors attempted challenge made up his mind of the pass to play next.

 

Didn't think he was great last night. The blunder for the goal is the type of action most of us predicted for him in Europe too.

Sometimes I feel he is a bit too 'frantic'. I think this is mainly down to Ange's style of play, but we need to be better at dictating the tempo of games. It doesn't need to be 100mph all the time. At times we just need to slow it down a bit.

I remember an interview with Guardiola talking about Foden a couple years ago. The reporter asked something like "how good is Foden" and he said he's an exceptional talent but needs to understand that the game doesn't need to be played at such a fast pace all the time. Instead, increase and decrease the pace of the game in phases, kind of like playing with the opposition and going for the killer move once the space has opened up. A bit like how Madrid played against us.

If you look at how we play its very rushed and verges on forced at times. McGregor is probably the biggest culprit of this, but again this is likely down to Ange wanting him to do that.

 

I thought he was good except for their goal.

 

When we were playing 'frantic' football was when we were managing to go toe to toe with Real, and when we were blowing away Shakhtar in the first 15 mins last night. When we dropped the pace after scoring was when they came back into it.
