Point would be awrite, but a win and we’re faves for 2nd spot imo.

Lose and we’re depending on Madrid to skelp Donetsk twice, whilst we pick up at least 3 vs Leipzig to set up a cracking night at Paradise vs the Ukrainians.

Same as the Madrid game the first goal will be absolutely crucial in this one.

I’d start Kyogo for this one and would be tempted to go Maeda on the right to track back on Mudryk.

    Fancy us for a 2-1.

We're due a few away points.

We need to turn up. You can't have an off night on the European stage.

If we score first we will win, hope Maeda and Kyogo have their shooting boots on tonight!

Need some help here with some of the rules.

At present and from what I can see, this is what has changed since my day, and is allowed,

You can lift a foot when taking a throw in.

You can kick the ball backwards from the centre spot to start the game.

A goal kick can be taken and passed to one of your players within the 18yrd box.

If you are in an off-side position but facing away from the goal you are attacking, during your team's attacking move, then that is ok as long you are not involved ? I hate that one, seems like a loop-hole in the game and a judgement based on the
    ref's discretion and fine margins.

Can't but not feel that VAR coming into club football has creeped in from the USA where it is used extensively in sport, where betting on sport games is massive and gambling is rife, and based on overseas results well. So any source of doubt regarding a goal scored or otherwise has to be removed.

If there are others I have missed, please let me know.

Now the one that initiated this post is this. Does the coach/manager have a limited number of times in a game that he can make substitutions ?

5 subs with 3 stoppages but I don't believe half time counts as a stoppage.

It's been a while since big samaras and his swooping header scored to take us to 3-2 in the depths russia for our first away win I can remember. Time we make it a regular theme. Tonight is that night. Can't wait!! Let's smash these *!!!!

One of our biggest games for a long time. Will let us know where we stand on the European stage more than the RM game did. We'll most likely play well going forward - we always do. But we have to get the result too. No more sob stories.

We showed potential and fight vs RM. Now we need to show that we are capable of getting results. Mon the hoops!

Wonder what the crowd will be as it's played in Poland. Good for us that its played at a neutral venue, but will be many empty seats.

It's going to be a full house. Tough game me thinks.

Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Igor Jovicevic said his team will perform "for the people out there" as they take to the Stadion Wojska Polskiego on Wednesday.

The Ukrainians are playing all of their group home matches in Warsaw because of the Russian invasion in their homeland, but a full house is expected at the 30,000-seat stadium in Poland.

"We need the spectators to share their energy and drive with us so we can fight during this game from the very first to the very last minute," the 48-year-old said, while suggesting Celtic are favourites to win despite Shakhtar's 4-1 win away to RB Leipzig last week.

"We are going to be playing for our fans, all those people who are out there. Indeed, all those people coming to the stadium have their own personal difficulties, but we are playing for them and with them."

Speaking about their victory in Germany last week, Jovicevic, who took over as Shakhtar boss in July, said: "This game showed what we are capable of."

He thinks facing Celtic will be "a high adrenaline type of match" played with "a sense of sports fear" and added: "Without fear, there is no courage, no drive forward. We will face a very tough match."

Anyone else super relaxed about the whole away hoodoo that blighted previous CL campaigns?

I feel like it's been a total mentality reset under Ange. This squad and management have basically nothing to do with Celtic's previous CL campaigns, and with Ange I just can't see our away record in Europe having any sort of effect on the current crop.

Not yet...at least until we win one or two away, then I know we can do it, it's all theoretical right now.
