Cant see many away section ones being up for grabs seeing as we got so little. You’d get one in the home end fairly easily though I’d imagine.

Aye, 7 seems a fair estimation for 3rd…8/9 for 2nd.

I was being a facetious * mate, 'minimum' 6 points from two home games made me laugh.

For the record, I want 2nd place, and think we are well capable.

Their's every chance we'd get knocked out by some of the teams we may face in Europa League last 32, even in current format of playing runners up In a play off, Man United, Roma, real sociedad, real betis and Lazio could all finish second

Equally if we got to last 16 of CL, I'd fancy us to have a decent chance against group B, D and E winners

Theirs no guarantee of a much easier draw, I'd rather spurs or Chelsea in champions league than Man Utd in Europa League

That’s the thing for me, you can get a good or bad draw at any stage in Europe and that includes next year CL group stages if we qualify.

If we can get 2nd this year, then we’ve got to take it and believe we can do something with it. No point saying let’s go on a Europa run when you could get a big team that goes on to knock you out. Might as well take on a big team in the CL and all the prestige that comes with a post groups CL knockout tie. That’s what we should be dreaming of.

Without sounding like a pessimistic * here, all the talk of knockout stages of any kind is premature for me. The performance against Madrid was very encouraging and domestically we've been flawless but I think Leipzig with a new manager will be a danger and Shakhtar shouldn't be underestimated as they've been getting results in this competition for years now.

I'll be happy if we can restore some Euro reputation at the very least this season, given how poor we've been last few years. I do have every faith in Ange to do that.

Don’t see how we restore any reputation without knockout football after Christmas!

It's all easier said then done, but that 45/60 minutes we had against Madrid would be enough to win our remaining 2 home games.

Obviously though football isn't that simple.

But I have to believe on the showing we put in against Madrid we've enough about us to make the fight for 2nd a tough call.

The Shaktar result has really thrown the group wide open in fairness

Flights and hotel booked for five of us, expecting to get some home end tickets also when we are in Madrid

True, I guess I feel reluctant to be making a case for which competition is preferable before we've even got any points on the board.

Depends how much you're wanting to go to but StubHub has some at €130ish

Best and virtually only chance will be to get a ticket for the home section now. We needed 4 tickets but only got 2 so we will buy a couple of home end tickets when we get to Madrid. If you ask the concierge at the hotel you are staying in they could possibly be able to help you out, for a price, so check what that will be before you ask for them though.

Would there be any problem wearing the colors in home end in Madrid?

I reckon we need 4 points minimum against Leipzig to secure 3rd. At that point we will be hoping Real Madrid have taken maximum from Shaktar, putting us in second on 5 and them in third on 4. That home game against Shaktar then becomes a 2nd place decider - winning will open a 4 point gap and secure 2nd, a draw will give us a perilous 1 point lead going into the last match day.

2nd very much up for grabs but it's anyone's guess what Leipzig bring to the table

Similar to how I see it, I think 8 points may be enough for second. Just can’t help feel that if we had won that tonight we were in a good position. Madrid take max points.

The big challenge for me will be getting 4 points from Leipzig we should beat Shakhtar at home as we should have beat them there, it was a great chance for an away CL win. Gave ourselves an uphill task now.

Double header with Leipzig decides where we finish for me. 4 points or more and we’ll finish 2nd.
