It was Real Madrid mate, as Ange said beforehand the greater the risk the higher the win.

Changing our game would have led to a passive pumping. The only difference was we didn't take the big chances.

It felt like the occasion got to us at times and our composure suffered at times. That being said, we went toe-to-toe for 45 minutes with the European champions and on another night would have sent 2-0 up.

It's interesting to reflect on the observation people make about us losing a bit of steam in the second half of games - it just so happened to be against the best quality opposition tonight

Exactly mate, I honestly don't get how folk can't see this and be positive/proud as *. If we play that exact same game we did there against the other 2 teams, I'd be more than confident we'd come second in the group.

Aye they totally played all our main threats out of the game. He’s one of, if not THE best manager in history and he looked majorly impressed with us and Ange tonight at the end.

 

As I said earlier, he wouldn't have even made the squad tonight.

Every dog gets its balls licked once in while, tonight was his moment for a good bawhum.

That’s not like the Barca’s, PSG’s, Bayern’s that have happened before. We more than matched the European Champions for 55 minutes. Never took our chances, ran out of steam in the end but proved that we’re back where we belong and hopefully we get more clinical

 

Lots of positives from the game. People need to realise were a new team effectively in a competition which is ruthless.
We created enough to take a draw but wasn't to be. Thats Purley lack of experience and playing the situation and not the game. It will come with time.

That being said, i felt Anges message or the players instructions were mixed up a bit. We usually 100pmh in their faces, we stood off more than i liked and showed too much respect for my liking. Small margins. If thats the best team in europe then we will hold our own very well in europe and this group.

 

We would have got skelpt if we flung men behind the ball with how crisp they were.

Spot on. They'll take better teams than Celtic apart this season with similar or bigger scorelines. Don Ancelotti is one of the greatest ever. And like Ange, a class act of the pitch.

 

Can't wait for next week. Going to learn so much about where this team is truly at against Donetsk.

Scoreline I expected, and the second half was also disappointingly predictable.

Good signs in the first half though, hopefully we take our chances better against the other 2 teams.
