Still no clue from Ange about the deal. Typical press here not asking any meaningful questions.

But his Instagram posts suggest someone here to stay

Rubin Kazan director was willing to terminate the contract to the annoyance of fans, but in the end he didn't wanna upset the Abildgaard...

    * me, I love hearing/reading him talk about football.

Most other managers would have just said "adds some strength and height and is versatile"
Ange here, * tell you what type of player, style of game and how he could be utilised in multiple styles of our game. An actual insight to how we may see the guy play.

Can we just give Ange a 10 year deal already?

We didn't need him today but I think he could well be important at places like the * pit and away in Europe. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

It says he is suspending his contract so means he would still have the 2 years when he goes back?

Kazan still hope to earn on the sale of the Dane. Will it come out?

On the very flag of the transfer window , Rubin midfielder Oliver Abildgaard found himself a new club. The Dane went to Celtic, where two former partners are already playing: Sead Hakszabanovich and Karl Starfelt . An additional plus for Abildgor is that he has the opportunity to make his debut in the Champions League.

The midfielder used the right to suspend the contract in Russia, but after the season he is expected in Kazan.

In Rubin they call the transition a lease
The transfer window in Europe's top leagues closed on the night of 2 September. In the last hours, the teams closed the deals as a matter of urgency, and the players agreed to the proposed conditions in order not to wait for the winter. Celtic put an end to the summer transfer campaign with the signing of Abildgaard. Oliver, although he said goodbye to the Rubin fans, can still return to Rubin after this season, as he only suspended the contract with the club.

“Abildgor has a two-year contract with the club. For the season, he goes to Celtic, taking advantage of the right to suspend the contract. However, this was a position agreed between him and us. Any loan often implies various options and obligations to the club from which they are rented. Legally, he suspends the contract, but, in fact, this is a lease for a year and after that he will return to us. Then we will be able to consider more profitable offers for its sale than we could get now, ” the press service of the club reports the words of the sporting director of Rubin, Oleg Yarovinsky .

The former head of Moscow, Lokomotiv and Rostov, Yuri Belous , does not believe that there is a negative in the transition on the transfer flag itself. “This does not mean that Abildgor was of little interest to other clubs and his transfer was postponed to such a late date. Why the closing of a deal occurs in the last hours is an indicator of many factors. A huge number of nuances are being discussed, including with cash tranches, which is a problem today,” Belous said.

Transfermarkt values Abildgor at €7m, lower than at the beginning of the summer. Then the price for the Dane was 7.5 million. One of the main reasons why Abildgor did not move to the club on a permanent basis was the difficulty with money transfers to Russia. For the same reason, another transfer from the Russian club to England failed - Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo was one step away from moving to Chelsea, but the transfer stalled at the stage of discussing payments.

For Celtic, the Dane became the ninth newcomer this summer. The team is preparing for a return to the Champions League, where the club last played in the 2017/18 season and finished 3rd in the group. Initially, the club was supposed to start in the Champions League with qualifications, however, due to the removal of Russian clubs from European competition, it immediately got into the group stage with Shakhtar, Leipzig and Real Madrid. Celtic will play at home with the Spanish giants on September 6th.

“The Scottish Championship is not much inferior to the Russian one. There are several high-level European clubs that successfully compete in European competitions. Celtic are the champions of Scotland, Glasgow Rangers have played in the Europa League final, Dundee United have high goals. I would not say that there is a huge difference between the RPL and Scotland,” Belous believes.

So it sounds like when Ange says that Abildgaard plays the single pivot really well, that he may want him to play that CDM role, allowing CalMac to finally move a bit further forward.

That obviously means someone like O'Riley would be relegated to the bench, which is harsh on him because he's obviously a fantastic player but in reality we now have 5 first team quality midfielders (CalMac, O'Riley, Hatate, Turnbull, Abildgaard) and that's even before we get to the likes of Mooy, Ideguchi and McCarthy (lol).

There is not a chance in * O'Riley is getting benched on his current form to make way for McGregor. If that happens I loose a bit of respect for Ange. Far more likely Oliver is on the bench and takes Mooy's place as the player we bring on to rest Cal or allowing Cal to move forward only when Matt or Reo having been taken off to rest.

He's our captain, I love him, but O'Riley right now is the superior AM no way either him or Reo should be moved to the bench for Cal.

Can't see O'Riley moving to the bench any time soon...

O'Riley, Calmac and Hatate are the starting storm-troopers and others will come on as Ange feels the need... for now.

A recent interview was extremely interesting regarding the way he sees shape, system and the players (of different qualities) that plug into it. Oliver will make his contributions off the bench, for now, but it's up to him to show Ange he's too good to leave out.

Haha, putting O'Riley on the bench to lose all the assists he's providing atm. You're asking for a defeat :giggle1:
