Leipzig pumped 4-0 off Frankfurt today

 

Hopefully Leipzig getting softened up.

 

Celtic's Champions League squad has been confirmed with Yosuke Ideguchi the major omission.

The UEFA website was updated on Sunday with Ange Postecoglou's selections - here is all you need to know...

Squad list

The 25-man squad is:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Benjamin Siegrist, Scott Bain

Defenders: Josip Juranovic, Anthony Ralston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh, Moritz Jenz, Carl Starfelt, Greg Taylor, Alexandro Bernabei

Midfielders: Callum McGregor, Oliver Abildgaard, James McCarthy, Matt O'Riley, Aaron Mooy, Reo Hatate, David Turnbull


Attackers: Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada, James Forrest, Sead Haksabanovic





Deadlines

Every club had to submit two lists of players, including details such as shirt number, date of birth and nationality. List A needed to be submitted to the relevant association to be verified, validated and forwarded to UEFA by midnight on Friday September 2. The same process applies to List B which must be submitted no later than midnight the day before each match (so Monday September 5 for Celtic).


List A

No club can have more than 25 players on List A during the season, of whom at least two must be goalkeepers. As a minimum, eight of those 25 places are reserved exclusively for 'locally-trained players'. If a club has fewer than eight locally-trained players in their squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly.

Homegrown players

There are two categories of 'locally-trained players':

1. Club-trained players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21

2. Association-trained players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight 'local' nominees on List A

List B

A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after January 1 2001 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA – or for a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year.

Players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years without interruption.

Each club must include at least two goalkeepers on List A and at least three in total (List A and List B combined).

Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, but the list needs to be submitted no later than midnight the day before a match.

Anything else?

If they get through to the knockout stage, Celtic can register a maximum of three new players ahead of the round of 16.

 

McCarthy only negative for me, guess its something about home grown players???

 

Yes. Even if McCarthy had left, we’d only have been able to register 24 players unless we signed another home grown player.

 

That Shakhtar win tonight probably means we'll have to go and beat them in Poland next week now I think..

Need the 6 point's for them and hopefully Madrid smash Leipzig..

 

I’d love to have Mooy or Abildgaard as a sitter ASAP which leaves Hatate or O’Riley fresh for the second half

 

Aye I’m not sure what to make of that result tonight now will be a tough game, but if we go to Poland and win we’ll be in a great position.

 

Agreed. A point at least is a must.

 

Draw would have been the best result, but I'd rather Shaktar have won than Leipzig, so not all bad.

No idea if Shaktar are a lot better than I was expecting, or Leipzig is a lot worse, will be a tough game either way.

 

Yeah we need abildgaard to get up to speed asap.

If we play like we did tonight in all our other games we should get points off the others and hopefully Madrid spank everyone else and run away with it and we can sneak second or even third.

I want to see us go and get an away win in Poland now. There's been a lot of talk about how much we've come on and its matches like the one against Donetsk that are the real test of that.
