    Only played Real once before competitively in a two-legged tie back in 1980, crazy that.

    3-2 on aggregate to Madrid. Beat them 2-0 at Celtic park though...:fear:

    Great draw for us - Real Madrid, WOW!! The rest are beatable.

    Would have preferred the Huns to not get Ajax after PSV pumped them a few weeks ago. As for Liverpool, they have been * and miss Mane us their midfield consists of Milner and Henderson who I don't rate at all. Obviously hope they get horsed tho...

    I would have took that before the draw. There’s a chance there to go for 3rd or even 2nd depending if Leipzig are as bad as they were last year and/or what state Shaktar are in.

    Real Madrid is also the glamour tie.

    Celtic will face the reigning European champions, Real Madrid, in the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League following today's draw in Istanbul.

    Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side have been drawn in Group F along with the Spanish giants, German side RB Liepzig and Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine - all sides that the Celts have faced before.

    The last time the Hoops faced Real Madrid was back in the 1979/80 European Cup, when they won the home leg 2-0 thanks to goals from Johnny Doyle and George McCluskey.

    In more recent years, Celtic took on RB Leipzig in the 2018/19 Europa League, while they have twice previously played Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, in 2004/05 and 2007/08, with the Hoops winning at home on both occasions.

    The final will take place at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium on June 10, 2023 but the road to Istanbul starts a lot sooner, with Matchday One scheduled for September 6 and 7, less than fortnight away.

    Good draw. Never played Real (as I can remember the last 15 years) so very interesting and than two teams we can compete with. No excuses not to play for second place. Hope we can give Leipzig a beating as well for their miserable performance against the huns :D Shakhtar have rarely played for half a year so really no excuses for us.

    Was sure though after drawing Bayern, Barca and Inter into one group we'll get that one :giggle1: Well, I could have at least go to two away games easily.

    Leipzig have had a bad start but could improve, I think we can get 3pts from them and Shakhtar 6. Shaktar have had all their Brazilian players (they had a lot of them) either leave on small fees or suspended their contract and went on loan.
