Ange Postecoglou has pulled Reo Hatate out of the firing line because he has now assembled a Celtic squad where he no longer has to take risks with any of his top stars.

Hatate is feeling the pain of a bruising opening day win over Aberdeen and the Hoops boss has left him out of today’s trip to take on Ross County. The Japanese star has been a standout but Postecoglou reckons he now has strong options right across his squad and it is about keeping them all fresh and well for the upcoming domestic and Champions League challenges.

Postecoglou confirmed: “It’s all good, apart from Reo. He got a couple of knocks last week and a bit of a muscle strain so we held him back this week for a bit of rehab. There were a couple of hard tackles and some clashes didn’t come out of too well. He will miss this game but everyone else is okay.

 

Turnbull it is then.

 

Annoying he has an injury…

… but at the same time - as AP states - it’s good that we have a squad of equally able players to draw on without risking relapses and aggravating injuries.

Just hope that we are still in the same position in January after 6 months of the refs allowing every spfl hatchet-man a free go at our players.

 

* frustrating....* should have been * sent off after elbowing Hatate Square on the base of his spine.

* * man...players are 100% bound to get injured and layed off for a couple weeks with that type of bullshit.

Feel like he would have been back if it was anywhere else, but that Killie pitch is an absolute disgrace.

Wouldn't be risking Starfelt on it either.

The fact they've specifically mentioned leaving him out due to their pitch tells me he'll be back and fine for the diets..

 

On one hand, good that our manager recognises the issues with these pitches and we aren't risking him. Good we have the depth and quality to not need him here.

On the other hand, how much longer do we need to out up with these atrocious pitches? When you've now got managers oublically stating that they aren't risking players due to the pitch being dugshit, can we not just * ban them? Or at least male these clubs install modern versions of a good standard? They've played European finals on these new ones and they are at a very high standard.

* Killie and livi etc are like the footy pitches at the local parks from 20 years ago

Either way I absolutely agree about the red. No doubt in my mind it should have been

 

I believe to change the rules in the SPFL, you need an 11-1 vote. So last year was the big chance to change it with only Livi in the league.

It’s an absolute disgrace that those standards of pitch are allowed in our top league.

 

Don’t think we even tried to push that either, which is mental to me. Cos nobody likes the pitches.

 

Hopefully we see hatate back for hearts, even off the bench. Sounds like it isn't too serious & we now have a decent squad. I think turnbull & rogic had to play through some niggles when we didn't have adequate cover last year so its nice to have the luxury of players now.

 

People constantly single him out as the one who may struggle with the physicality of the Scottish game but I every time I see a pic of him I can't help but think he looks like an absolute unit
