Great sighting Idio, they're beautiful birds and a joy to see when your not expecting it, i got a great close up sighting of one early this morning, it landed on a fence post around ten feet away.

For anyone living in Glasgow, you can see kingfishers in Linn Park.
In fact, anywhere the River Cart goes, the White and Blue Cart in Glasgow.

Seen them scuzzy and I seen a female flying in to feed chicks a good few weeks ago but she was reluctant to pose for the camera
It was a hole in the tree near the golf course so I just sat on the grass watching her coming and going :)

A few from this morning, i've been hoping to get a decent picture of a King Fisher for a long time, i saw this fella bombing up the loch but i wasn't too sure what it was as it was moving so fast, i nearly dropped the feckin camera when he landed on a fence post around 10 or 12 feet away, he stayed around for a minute or so and then zoomed away over the water to the opposite bank, i had a feeling there would be a King Fisher around but it still came as a shock when it appeared so close.

That is exactly the one I was referring to, it is right next to the golf course, as a matter of interest we first spotted him Two years ago exact same tree the trilling noise was quite entertaining so we stood and watched him for a while, was out walking the dog at the time no camera though I'm sorry to say, however knowing my camera skills I would have probably ended up taking a shot of a golf ball.:31:

Johnnie, this has been annoying me for a couple of days now. Like yourself, I've not ID this bird. I showed it to Caroline, who's a great birder. She thinks it's a Black Legged Kittiwake. Hope this helps you Johnie

I've seen the Kingfishers on the River Cart many times Taylor. Brilliant sighting. You also get Kingfishers on the River Clyde as well.

Good to know Johnboy about the kingfishers on the River Clyde.
I will look out for them the next time I am down Glasgow Green/Richmond Park.
You usually find them on fast flowing rivers, the same as the dippers.

Thanks John, that's as close as i've ever been to a Kingfisher, i thought i'd never get the chance again but he appeared again this morning, he only stayed on the fence for a few seconds but i managed to get a couple of pics.
