I was down in Yorkshire last weekend , and I'm glad to report that I saw my first ever Kingfisher . It was at Boroughbridge , where the canal and river meet at the weir and salmon ladder . Sadly I didn't manage to photograph it .

Great spot Mr twice, they're a stunning wee bird and super fast when they're on the wing.

A few from the weekend at Colgagh, I was trying out a new camera i bought on Friday morning, it's quite different from what i'm used to using so might take a few outings to get comfortable with, i watched the young Fox for around 20 minutes, he was entertaining himself with a clod, throwing it up in the air and then stalking it and pouncing on it when it came down, there was a few Sheep lounging on the foreshore and he seemed a bit reluctant to pass them, i was hoping he would as that would have brought him round the shore to where i was perched, i also saw the otter briefly having a tussle with something quite big, i can't make out if it was an Eel or a Trout. there were a few Egrets around and they came quite close to where i was sitting before flying off. i was back there early this morning but it was very quiet with not much to see.

My wife Caroline and I went to Millport yesterday. Never been there before . We had a great day. On the ferry over, we saw a stunning Gannet diving for dinner. I'm not the greatest person on water or boats, but my fear was forgotten when we saw three birds flying over the water really near to the boat, which were LIFERS for us. Three MANX SHEARWATERS. What a sighting .
On Millport, we saw a few Rock Pipits, Jackdaws, a stunning Great Black-Backed Gull and a few Carrion Crows. We had a great day, and the Manx Shearwaters were the stars of the day.

I didn't know that Johnie. I may have seen her and not known I had. As a fellow wildlife lover, I definitely would have introduced myself.

It looks like a young black headed gull at first sight. But not sure now, as it has those black ringed wings.
