    He will appear in the directors box in the main stand like the pope on the balcony of St Peters Basilica handing out blessings and half that crowd will lap it up. Lawell is many things daft isn’t one.

    His CV reads that he lead us to one of our most successful ever periods on the pitch with our most successful period off the pitch during 2 of the biggest disasters in recent memory in the crash of 2008 and the Pandemic. His CV reads * astonishing.

    Sadly that’s the * annoying thing, because it’s nowhere near the full story but it’s the facts.

    Peter Lawwell could be set to become Celticchairman as replacement or for the outgoing Ian Bankier.

    The Hoops confirmed the retirement of the director in a statement to the London Stock Exchange yesterday, with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond paying tribute to his colleague. The money man confirmed Celtic Park chiefs would now ensure a smooth transition is put in place for Bankier's successor as he paid tribute to him.

    It's now emerged that successor could well be a familiar face in the shape of the club's former chief executive. The Daily Mail is reporting this morning that Lawwell is favourite for the vacant role almost a year after he ended his near-two decade stint as CEO. Bankier replaced John Reid as chairman in 2011 and will officially relinquish his position on January 1, 2023

    Desmond said yesterday: "I would like to thank Ian sincerely for his contribution to Celtic across the past decade. Ian has provided great counsel and stability across a sustained period of growth and success for the club and I wish Ian and his family well for the future.

    "We will ensure that we work very closely with Ian over the next few months to deliver a smooth and effective transition prior to announcing his successor."

    Speaking to Celtic's website, Bankier admitted it has been an honour for him to serve the club over the last decade.

    He said: "It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the club I will always love, as chairman, for more than ten years.

    To be fair, no quotes or anything

    Benefit of the doubt here, the club can't be this stupid.....

    But it's a bad sign when that's the fear and the headline for the story is to stir up those feelings for clickbait.

    Time will tell, but, no he should not be anywhere near Celtic in a capacity of power

    Good ol Dermy, still making OUR club his "jobs for the boys" clubhouse.

    If lawell comes back it just demonstrates what a * paradigm of cronyism and nepotism our club has become under DD.

    * Strachans and Lawells.

    He might actually just give it to * John Kennedy, as that * seems to be DD's * love child with a job for life.
