Poles would look good painted green white and gold however, it would need constant re-painting costing money, which might therefore be frowned upon. We could always get Ajeti and McCarthy to do it in order to work for the big bucks they are creaming off us

Having been in place since 2015, the banners wrapped around the exterior of Celtic Park became a firm favourite with supporters and visitors to Paradise, a fitting tribute charting some of the club’s most iconic moments and celebrating the Celtic legends who have contributed so much to our incredible success.

And now as the new season approaches, Celtic Park has been given a refreshed, contemporary look with a modern take on the Celtic story.

    THE APPROACH
As the largest football stadium in Scotland, Celtic Park cuts an indelible silhouette across the Glasgow skyline. Visible from afar, the Jock Stein and Lisbon Lions stands are gateways to the stadium and will now proudly highlight Celtic’s position as both Champions of Scotland, with captain Callum McGregor shown celebrating lifting the SPFL Premiership trophy, and heralding the club’s greatest achievement as European Cup winners with the iconic image of the legendary Billy McNeill lifting the trophy in 1967.

A modular graphic approach has enabled us to weave together a huge selection of important iconography from the club’s rich history in a modern way. The complete stadium wrap celebrates the club’s origins, iconic Celtic strips, badges and crests, alongside famous quotes, songs and achievements. The new look banners also incorporate a classic green and white hooped design to complete the new look at Celtic Park.

    THE HOOPS
One of the key design elements across the corner stands are a number of graphic tributes to iconic kit designs from the club’s 134 year history.

Influences for the design can be found as far back as the retro quartered away kit from 1926/27,

The iconic hoops have taken many forms over the years, and are presented on the stadium exterior in a variety of forms: from the crisp pin stripes first worn in the early 80s by legends including Danny McGrain and Paul McStay, to the green and white hooped collar worn by the ‘three amigos’ during the Tommy Burns era.

More recently, the memorable horizontal pin stripes found within the wide hoops worn in the early 10s by the likes of Virgil Van Djik, Scott Brown and Georgios Samaras also form part of the design.

Away kit designs make a number of appearances, from the distinctive vertical mesh design of the black and green away kit, as worn by Pierre Van Hooijdonk, to the black and green vertical hoops worn during the original 9-in-a-row era, and again in 2006/07.

The ‘bumblebee’ kit has featured in a number of forms over the years, and is represented here by the distorted hoops of the 2011/12 design.

    THE CULTURE
Nothing highlights the importance of the club’s incredible fans more than the famous quote by legendary Celtic manager Jock Stein “Football without the fans is nothing” and the Celtic songbook is celebrated within the banner designs, with the inclusion of some of the most well-known anthems from ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ to ‘The Celtic Song’.

Celtic fans are also crucial in their support of Celtic FC Foundation, with the culture of charitable work at the heart of the clubs origins since its foundation by Brother Walfrid. Charity as a cornerstone of the club is also celebrated on the banners.

The club has always stood for openness and inclusion. And now, with ‘A Club Open to All’ proudly emblazoned at either side of the entrance to the stadium, this welcoming mantra is there for all to see. This is further evidenced by the presence of the growing influence of the women’s team and our female supporters – ‘The Ghirls’.

    THE ACHIEVEMENTS
With the original banners celebrating the club’s many achievements over the years, it was important to retain and update these as part of the progressive new look.

Over the years, a number of iconic logos have been created to commemorate the club’s successes, from the European Cup triumph and nine-in-a-row teams, to the Centenary Double and unforgettable Double Treble, Treble Treble, Quadruple Treble and Invincible seasons in recent years.

Fans will find subtle nods to these achievements with iconography detailed within Celtic’s iconic colours of green and white.

The final designs were subject to a detailed design process over the last six months supported by Glasgow based marketing & creative agency, Maguires with further assistance from SNS Group and the Herald & Times.

They do need a lick of paint and it would look much better. Although I do like the new banners a lot, simple and sleek design.

    Just can't get enough
Doesn't the country FA decide which stadium to use for a CL final.
So even if we met the criteria and Scotland got chosen as a host I don't think the SFA would give it to us

The new banners are absolutely *. If I'm being honest. Unimaginative.

I love Celtic Park my spiritual home. The guy in HR who signed off these banners has no imagination what so ever.

It's a downgrade. No doubt about it. Lazy. Cheap looking. Unimaginative. You can't see Billy McNeil's face. It's not clear.

After seeing the stadium bare again, I couldn’t care what the banners look like - just make sure something is covering the aged exterior!

Woeful. Lazy. Student 2D design. Doesn't tell a story. The photograph is outstanding. That's a picture that tells a story. How can anyone see that tiny European cup. Crap man.

0.1/10. Celtic deserve a refund from the supplier.

Here's an idea. Every square foot of wall on Janfield street should be turned into a Celtic Mural. With graffiti on the walls. That says we're magic. Designed by the fans. Funded by the club.

    Make it happen celtic.

We need a graffiti tunnel that says welcome to the jungle. Atmosphere. Neon lights. It's a must for the blank canvas of Janefield Street!

We need a graffiti tunnel like the tunnels in London. Or at the San Siro. Graffiti on the wall says we're magic. Graffiti on the wall. Of the celts. Of the celts! Make it happen Celtic!

Quite like that idea of a graffiti wall.

Can't remember who posted that idea :86: If only they had brought it up more than once.
