Anyone freaking out about a preseason testimonial?

 

The 2nd half in pre season games are always * .evrykunt just goes thru the motions

 

A wouldn’t leave mate, your entitled to your opinion, disagree with it re jota if anything jota was probably our best performing player in the europa league last season, I still think there s a player there in idegucchi whereas quite a few people on the forum talking about binning him after a few halves in pre season, all about opinions

 

Watching back those highlights looks like the starting 11 really could have handed out a doing, the second half some shambolic defending. That second goal is a copy of the one we lost to Leverkusen to lose over there when someone on the edge of our box doesn’t get shut down properly and the guy in the box gets far to much space and time to play that ball.

In the squad we probably have about 16- 18 players who can contribute at a good level but lack a good alternative to McGregor as a defensive CM and one other option as a winger.

That’s if Jenz is decent and so is Mooy as an 8/10.

 

Thought we were first class in the first half.

 

Our not so gelled b-team have some troubles but our first team have been impressive this pre season. The first team would have won every game so far comfortably and I would love to see them play Norwich with 3-4 subs at around 75th-90th minute as usual.

Scored a couple of cracking goals, was working so missed the game...did the highlights tell a fair picture of the game? Looked like we dominated first half, was it that one sided?

 

4 great goals if I’m honest.

Maeda great one touch finish. Hatate great one touch finish with ball coming over shoulder.

Those 2 finishes from Legia were exquisite as well. Boruc in his prime wouldn’t have even saved them. Few mistakes at the back though for those goals I’d say.

 

Agree mate, ironically both main mistakes at the back for the first goal and for what should have been the second goal were made by 2 players who hardly put a foot wrong last season and were 2 of our best players, glad it was them rather than someone like jenz if he d played or wee boy bernabei would got the usual suspects asking them to be binned saying they were *

Missed the game after rushing home for boxing training. Was hoping to watch it but looking at the highlights, we looked excellent first half. Should have been more. Hopefully that sharpness will come into our game and the likes of them missed chances, once we're up and running they'll be goals instead of wasted opportunities. Have great feelings about this season

there was a lot of times last season the 2nd half never matched the 1st im putting it down to the chopping and changing so far

 

Two pointers IMHO.

Firstly, though the highlights above doesnt show it, I thought for there first goal CV actually got a punch in the face in the lead up to the goal before he battled for the ball from the keeper.
Secondly, when Ange makes so many sweeping changes in the second half, Its very difficult to know which players are actually up to the task of just slipping into the first 11 with a one off one on substitution. Mass substitutions never help gauge an individuals ability eg how would Julien fit in alongside CCV for example. How would Ideguchi play alongside two of the other assumed first choice midfielders.
Yes he sees them in trg, but we as fans so far this pre season havent seen anything other than two sets of teams playing, never the small tinkering that will happen when the season gets underway.

Easy to say, we have a good first 11, but have we got enough individual replacements to slip in when out injured, suspended etc.?

 

I think the teams that have started all of these pre-season games end up winning them all comfortably if they were competitive.

 

All this game did is cement my opinion that we badly need a CDM. The gap between midfield and defence is massive at times and I'm really worrying what will happen in Europe against a Man City or Liverpool. They'll pick us apart.
