Just can’t get enough Depeche mode
I was wondering that as usually a reason why clubs loan to buy. Lorient are pretty mediocre so it’s not as if he isn’t good enough for them

Might just not have fitted lorient style.
If we had an interest before I doubt he's just turned *

I'm looking forward to see what he can do

We've signed lots of players that have had a bad season previously and gone on to be great players for us.. One bad season doesn't make a bad player..

Chris Sutton being the stand out..

As I said I don't know much about this lad but again if Ange wanted him we gotta trust him..

Wipe your tears Julien and cry into a damp sock.

Welcome Moritz Jenz. A new CB in town.

He speaks fluent English for a German. Probably learned it at University. A young guy of intelligence on and off the park with the confidence to play abroad.

Welcome Welcome. Hail Hail. Hail hail the celts are here!

That was good of big AJ to tell us this morning that his agent was due in Glasgow today to continue discussions. Big man had probably already had his photos taken at LXT by then :56:

    Spot on as usual.

The fact he says he wanted to be here last year may be something to do with his poor form last season, you know yirsel when a guy wants to leave a club, they get treated differently by the manager and also affects performance s on the pitch, as a few have said don’t become bad player over night

When Matt O’Riley signed for Celtic back in January this year, he immediately sent a text to his best friend telling him he should join him at the club.

Now, six months later that has happened as Moritz Jenz has signed for Celtic on a season-long loan from French side, Lorient.

The 23-year-old central defender has been friends with O’Riley since the two of them played with Fulham, and he’s delighted to be joining up with the midfielder again.

More than that, however, the German defender is thrilled to have signed for a massive club in Celtic, and he can’t wait to pull on the green and white Hoops.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, Moritz Jenz said: “It’s an amazing feeling to be here. It’s been a dream for me since last year because I really wanted to come here, and finally the dream has come true to play for a massive club, so I’m really happy to be here.

'Since last year, I’ve been in touch with Matt O’Riley who’s been my best mate since we were younger and played together at Fulham, and he told me a lot of great things.'

“He texted me immediately after he signed, telling me it would be nice to have me here.

“I’ve followed the season and how it went, and obviously it went really well for Celtic because they won the league.

“It’s always good to have a friend and someone who can help you to settle in very quickly, and I’ve also met the lads today and they seem like a good group of people, very open, very nice, so I’m looking forward to work, and working hard and getting as far as possible with the team this season and achieve great things.”

The new Celtic defender spent five years with Fulham before moving to Swiss side, Lausanne-Sport in 2020, spending a year there before joining Lorient.

And now that he’s at Celtic, the player explained what fans can expect to see when he pulls on the Hoops.

“I’m a hardworking player, someone who is physical and aggressive, and who likes to play,” he said, “and fans can expect me to give everything to the club to achieve the highest targets. That’s what I’m here to do.

“It’s very exciting. Obviously, every player’s dream is to play for a big team and to compete for the biggest trophies and competitions, so I’m looking forward to it, I want to finish as high as possible in every competition.

“I would love to have played tomorrow, but things have been a bit busy today, so I will train this week and then join with the team on Friday and be ready for the match at the weekend.”

And Moritz Jenz also revealed that his friendship with Matt O’Riley is not his only Celtic connection.

“At Fulham my coach was Peter Grant, who was a big player at Celtic,” he explained, “and I used to listen to all the stories he told me of when he played – he played with Andy Thom, who was also here.

“So I always had an eye for it – a special club with a special logo, a special shirt and a special history, so there was always a desire to one day play for this club. I think maybe it’s destiny – I hope so.”

Just a guess but the fact he was offered a 5 year? deal by a top flight French club probably swayed it..
