Transfer window summer 22

I liked Mooy when he played in England, and would have taken him in a heartbeat back then. Fast forward to now though and I’m not convinced he is what we need. Approaching 32, has barely played any football over the past few years, and plays a similar position to a few players already here. I just feel that we should be prioritising the positions we badly need to first. Don’t spend wages that could be important when trying to bring in a defensive midfielder that we should be desperate to sign.

 

Find one time I ever said any of that.

For what it's worth, after the Howe debacle, I was happy to get someone in so we could actually begin to build a squad.

Completely different set of circumstances.

 

He wasn't a workhorse?

I said he was fairly well rounded in his prime. Could go box to box. Score from range. Hit set pieces and his passing was pretty good..

That was year's ago though. He won't take us anywhere we want to be..

 

We’ve been looking for a ‘Wanyama style’ player for around 10 years.

Obviously not a priority for the club.

 

He just won't play is my point. We aren't dropping McGregor from his deep lying playmaker role and if it's to give McGregor a rest, be as well playing Ideguchi or McCarthy, provided you have decent attackers on the pitch.

It's not like he's going to be on pennies.

 

Not fussed on this one personally. Age isn’t the issue here, I simply don’t believe he’s the calibre of player we should be aspiring to in order to progress. I can’t see a situation where he becomes a starting player, which means he’s essentially expensive backup with no resale value.

 

Hes only signing a years contract so I wouldn't worry about resale value.

So Ange is bringing in a player that he has worked with before to not play him at all

No. The ITK poster is pretty reliable

 

When I say "he just won't play", I mean he won't be playing a lot of games. He will probably play the odd game and come on as a sub in some games to rest McGregor and I just don't see the point of that.

We could literally do that with McCarthy/Ideguchi.

Think I saw people talking about him a few pages back actually. Would be happy with that.

 

Yeah but at the same time folk moan about the quality of the squad outwith the first 11. People need to make their minds up

 

I don’t think he will be expensive. No fee and the wages won’t be much I wouldn’t have thought.

 

Is there a reason he has no club? Wolfsburg spent a few quid on him if I remember right. Injury issues or are Wolfsburg just having financial issues?

 

You (and I) literally have no idea what Ange's plan for Mooy is.

 

I think we should be channelling all our efforts recruiting a CB to play with CCV not a Midfielder, we desperately need a better CB with good distribution and pace. Have that we don’t need cow noise.
