if that’s true then I massively approve I think we need a midfielder like that. It’s a low risk 1 year contract and we need a midfielder.

I think this signing is our CDM, a position we all craved yet we've brought in a 32 y/o freebie. Not exactly inspiring stuff but I'll reserve judgement as I don't know much about him outside a brief decently successful spell in the EPL many moons ago.

Are we keeping funds back to spend big elsewhere or in classic Celtic style are we hoarding cash and resting on our laurels.

We've already spent £15m+ this summer not including signing on fee for Seigrist. I don't think you can level the "resting on our laurels" charge at them.

Nothing suggests Ange has went from looking at Souza to switching to Mooy. I suspect Mooy will be another body for the CM positions seen as we've lost Bitton & Rogic and McCarthy isn't going to make the grade.

With guaranteed CL entry and the funds to go with it I'm definitely expecting more of an investment. Will be very disappointed if we don't flex our financial muscles a bit more. This squad is nowhere near ready to compete at that level.

I'll be surprised if Mooy isn't out new CDM tbh. £7m for Souza was as I thought fairy land stuff and never close to a reality despite many attempting to wish it in to existence.

Edit: and not that I blame them, that's exactly the type of business we should be doing and we are capable of doing but the Celtic board have always and will always lean towards caution. It will continue to hold us back. The wage cap at rumoured £30k is another example of that.

    Still dont understand this thread.

Again, Ange gave an unequivocal NO. Then went on to clarify the NO.
Then went on to be specific about OTHER TARGETS.

Signing this guy would be the mother of all 180's.

Ange strikes me as a guy who keeps his intentions close to his chest... But not a bs artist.

Think too many on here are getting in a flap over sone twitter rumor monkeys and red top pass the parcel "news" stories.

Aye, what I meant by the Souza thing is that Ange has clearly identified a profile of player he wants for CDM. Strong, powerful, athletic. None of which you'd assign to Mooy really. It would make no sense for Ange to flip so drastically.

Ange hasn't let us down yet so he has to have our full trust.

Also the wage cap has increased beyond £30k as there are members in the squad above that now.

We have to be prudent but hysteria over signing Mooy is a bit daft.

Need to get shot of Ajeti and Julien i suspect they are 2 of our highest earners.

Then the Lennon era will be well and truly over

To be honest, probably not so much. Ange is a kind of enigma that all Aussie football fans will back. Mooy doesn't have such a pull.

Mooy loves a good tackle and challenge, even if he is not physically imposing to the eye. He holds off a player well and is strong on the ball.
A mostly irrelevant argument because NO ONE can guarantee that there body will hold up with such stress - it didn't stop younger guys like Kyogo, Jota, Turnbull, Taylor etc from breaking down last season. Why would the scrutiny be whether Mooy can consistently play 2 matches a week for months on end without scrunitising the guys he would replacing if they're injured - Hatate, CalMac, Hatate, O'Riley etc. I don't get this argument bro.

I'd watch because of Mooy but wouldn't bother if it was just Ange, as much as I support the big fella

Reserve full judgement until I see him play but has a hint of McCarthy about him. It's usually black or white, either the signing is 100% revelation or just a backup taking a wage.

Interesting, but I would imagine that the bulk of Australians who would be interested in Celtic already are because of Ange, and there'll only be a few extra stragglers after Mooy.

    Hopefully I'm proven wrong.
