Defender, Boli Bolingoli, who signed for Celtic from Rapid Vienna in 2019 and who has since been on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey and Ufa in Russia has returned to his native Belgium in a permanent deal with Mechelen.

He joins the Belgian First Division A club after playing 31 games for the Hoops since making his debut against FK Sarajevo in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League win in July, 2019.

The 27-year-old’s final game for the Hoops was a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park last November and everyone at Celtic Park wishes him every success with his new club.

Nice...likely we wouldn't have got much as a fee but as has been pointed out.

He's now off the wage books permanently. Good bit of money saved there.

With any luck maybe we even got £1mill for him to

The 27-year-old left back comes from Celtic Glasgow and signs a contract for two seasons.

The Congolese Antwerp resident brings a lot of experience to Mechelen. With 73 matches for Rapid Wien, 64 for Club Brugge, 31 for Celtic and 18 for both STVV and Basaksehir: “Boli knows what it's like to play under pressure. Club, Celtic, Rapid, they are all top teams in their league. With the surplus still being matches in the Champions League and the Europa League. He can give us an extra boost both defensively and offensively," says sporting director Tom Caluwé.

I want to play back and have fun. That is my first goal at KV.

With this transfer, Bolingoli is following in the footsteps of his uncle, Roger Lukaku, who settled in Mechelen 25 years ago. “I haven't talked to Roger about KV Mechelen yet,” laughs our new left back. “I was just looking for a club where you notice a family feeling. This became clear from the first contact. I want to play back and have fun. That is my first goal at KV.

Two year contract tells me it was free, but better than keeping him.

Good stuff. Re-invest his wages towards a CB or DMF please.

Honestly thought he would steal a living off us till the end. Even if we let him go without a fee it is still a major positive!

Delighted. Ajeti and Jullien next. That'll be all the heavy wastage off the books (or at least partly).

So many unwanted player's out the door now and we've massively downsized on wages..

Just Ajeti and Jullien to go as mentioned above. Would prefer McCarthy to go as well but unlikely..

    That's.....

    Boli
    Soro
    Barkas
    Afolabi
    Connell
    Scales
    Montgomery
    Doohan
    Dembele
    Bitton
    Rogic

Off the books now and only really Rogic you'd want out of that list..

If we get Jullien and Ajeti out the door then we've done better than anyone could've imagined. Even if we've made fuckall off some of them..

I would add Forrest to that list and probably Johnson too if we had adequate replacements @McChiellini..

Still cannot believe we gave Forrest a 3 year deal.

Just Ajeti/Julien to get out the door and that’s us pretty much cleaned out the proper deadwood.

    Centre Back LTB
    Mmaee £2.5m
    Defensive Midfielder LTB

    Then we are ready

That’s probably £100k a week worth of wages out the door as well which is frightening. Saving ourselves £5m a year punting that lot. You’d think it would be another £2m if we get rid of Ajeti and Julien at least.

Aye Forrest should've went for me as well..

Loved the wee man but a new contract was madness in my opinion as he looks done to me overall for what we need in an Ange side. I don’t think he's got the leg's for it anymore and injury prone..
