Think that’s a bit unfair on aek there, wouldn’t have said they’re a minnow of a club. Get your point though!

We could always do a rangers with him. Let him play a couple of games and if he scores 2-3 goals he'll be valuated at 15m+.

He would score goals at a Championship club, and that’s probably the only league that would meet his wage demands that he is good enough to play in.

Albian Ajeti “isn’t bothered” about leaving Celtic this summer and the club will struggle to get rid of him thanks to his wage.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the out of favour striker’s future

Ajeti, 25, only played 22 minutes of Scottish Premiership action after 21 February before the end of the 2021-22 season.

He also struggled to work his way into the side despite long-term injuries to Kyogo Furuhashi and Georgios Giakouamkis.

Ajeti has been at Celtic since August 2020 after a failed spell at West Ham though he has never been a regular starter for the Hoops.

McAvennie claims the club will struggle to get rid of him this summer as he is making no effort to leave.

They aren’t going to get rid of Ajeti because he is earning that much,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“From what I hear, he is on that much that he isn’t bothered about leaving.

I would be kicking and screaming if I wasn’t playing. The way the boys are playing at the moment, Maeda, Kyogo, Giakoumakis, I would be asking for a move.

“I would want to play. Ajeti just seems to not be bothering. It’s one of them, someone needs to come in.”

Ajeti scored six goals in 30 total outings during the 2021-22 season.

He has made 48 total appearances for the club.

Frank McAvennie hasn’t a clue what’s going on at Celtic.

I wouldn’t be bothered either to be fair to him :56:

If he stays out his contract, don’t blame him at all. I blame us.

Don’t think he’s all that bad a striker, just one that is not suited to what we would ever want out of one.

Loved him as a player but has to be said he is utterly clueless about modern football and in particular what is happening or influencing the Celtic team choices.

Just judging off Open Goal, he’s well aware of that and doesn’t pretend different but papers run on quotes he’s said in conversation.

He’s an easy target. Funny that they don’t do that with Derek Ferguson when he’s part of they conversations and talks openly about Rangers on the same platform. Because you could easily pick out a quote or two to suit an agenda.

Celtic would “very much” entertain offers for striker Albian Ajeti this summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

The Switzerland international became one of the Hoops’ more expensive signings when he made the £5m switch from West Ham in 2020, but he has failed to live up to expectations at Parkhead.

How has Ajeti performed at Celtic?
A long-term hamstring injury might have brought a premature end to Ajeti’s 2021-2022 season, forcing him to miss more than six months in total, but even before his spell on the sidelines, he wasn’t exactly pulling up trees.

Initially, Ajeti enjoyed a dream start to life in Glasgow, scoring in five of his first six Premiership appearances. But he’s found the net just twice in the league across the last 21 months, while his overall record for the Hoops stands at an underwhelming nine goals in 48 appearances.

Ajeti still has two years remaining on his Parkhead contract, but Joseph reckons that should Celtic receive an appropriate offer, they’d be willing to move him on.

What did Joseph say about Ajeti?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Ajeti has just not worked out. He signed for £4.5m in the Covid season, he was living in a hotel, not really settling in at Celtic and hasn’t been able to set the world alight under Ange Postecoglou.

“He probably doesn’t fit into the way Postecoglou wants to play and unless he has a really good pre-season, which could happen, if they were to get a loan offer with an option to buy, Celtic would very much entertain that.”

Should Celtic get rid of Ajeti?
Injuries have generally overshadowed Ajeti’s time in Scotland, but even before his layoff, besides a flurry of goals when he first got into the team, he’s shown little to suggest that he’s going to be a success at the club.

Celtic aren’t exactly overloaded with centre forwards, but they have several players in their squad capable of playing through the middle, so selling Ajeti wouldn’t exactly be a loss to Ange Postecoglou.

Since Ajeti last played competitively for the Hoops, they’ve signed Daizen Maeda, who’s more than capable of playing up front, while Kyogo Furuhashi has returned from a long-term injury, so with Celtic already proving they can cope without him, he could be moved on this summer.

Ajetti will come good. He'll hit a freak goal streak and be our number one choice striker by a clear distance come December. In fact I can see him and James McCarthy being our two top players next season. Have faith

£5 million, yeesh. What was the transfer strategy before Ange? Find a player Premier League clubs are desperate to get rid of and throw millions at them?

He’s still only 25. Surely someone would take a punt?

Even from his point of view it’s surely better to take a wage cut at 25 and get your career back on track rather than do * all for 2-3 years and not get any offers. He’ll earn more in the long run by getting game time now.
