@OziBeerMan - pre-season and * pick up on anypoint (I done it as well but I was as pished as you tbf :56:) for a debate and argument.

One of the things though, and the reaction to your quite innocent question, is probably steeped in our history as a fanbase. We’re a club that was founded to be a union between two cultures, for immigrants to celebrate theres whilst trying to be accepted in another one.

And it’s always been something that’s reared it’s head, the question of ethnic identity. Most recently Aiden McGeady brought it up, about the reaction to him playing for Ireland and backlash. We’re touchy as a fanbase around peoples ethnic culture, you can be both (or more) and neither should be denied and it’s a personal thing towards how you identify, how you’ve been raised and where you find a cultural affinity.

Anytime there’s a hint of a suggestion that people are annoyed with being raised somewhere but having a cultural identity as a family and somewhere you may not have been raised, hackles are raised. Because it’s usually Hun talk and thinly concealed Xenophobia.

Your question wasn’t but it might make the reaction make a bit more sense to you.

kangaroo is actually pretty good eating. just got to be carefull how its cooked. easy to spoil it with too much heat too fast. slow cooked in a stew is perfect. and its a lot cheaper than cows. plus you can find them bouncing down the street.

emu on the other hand. bleeeerrrgggghhhh. worst thing i have eaten. i thought it would be like a chicken but massive. it was like eating mouldy old rope.

Hoping the board backs him. Hoping his players don't get ahead if themselves now and most of all, I do hope he's not another one that'll * off to the prem as soon as it comes calling. As much as I really like Ange and what he's achieved with us, Im one that is still cautious with all this badge kissing. Over 20k fans came to see the snake then he shots on us like he did. Hope Ange doesn't do similar.

It was on June 10, 2021, when Ange Postecoglou was announced as the new permanent manager of Celtic Football Club, becoming the 19th man to take on the role.

Despite his previous and very successful spells in and with Australia, as well as time in Japan, he arrived as a relative unknown, but over the course of 12 months, Ange Postecoglou well and truly embedded himself in the hearts of Celtic supporters around the world.

Arriving at Lennoxtown later in the month due to Covid restrictions, the manager had plenty of work to on his hands to restore Celtic back to the summit of Scottish football, something he did at the first time of asking.

He did so in a transformative way, as a new squad of players took the league and League Cup by playing with a relentless attacking approach and strong defensive foundations that saw the team score the most and conceded the least goals in the country.

To celebrate his one-year anniversary, we take a look back on some of the key moments of his first 12 months as Celtic manager.

    BRINGING A NEW GROUP TOGETHER
As soon as Ange Postecoglou walked through the door, the work began on rebuilding a squad that had fallen short of the title the previous season.

Significant figures departed over the summer, meaning the Australian had to move quickly to bring in the right players that would take the club forward and see the trophies come back to Celtic Park.

A total of 15 players arrived during the manager’s first 12 months, the vast majority contributing extensively to both trophy successes.

From his first signing in Liel Abada to his last of the season in Matt O’Riley, each hit the ground running and put in crucial performances to see the team lift the league trophy on the final day of the season.

In the 3-0 Glasgow derby win in February, nine of the 11 starters were players brought in by Ange Postecoglou, showcasing the manager’s ability to quickly identify and improve players.

His knowledge of Japan from his time at Yokohama F Marinos allowed him to tap into the more unknown J-League market and bring in key contributors Kyogo Furhashi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate, as well as Yosuke Ideguchi who was unfortunate with injury.

Of the 92 league goals scored by the new champions, no fewer than 67 were scored by 10 of the new Bhoys, a sign of the turnaround under the manager.

    LEAGUE CUP GLORY
After sealing the quadruple treble in 2020, it felt strange for the Celts to go through the 2020/21 season without a trophy.

Getting back to winning ways was vital for the manager and the League Cup was the first opportunity to deliver silverware.

Advancing to December’s final after defeating Hearts, Raith Rovers and St Johnstone, the Hoops came back from behind to defeat Hibernian thanks to two wonder goals from Kyogo at Hampden Park.

That brought Ange Postecoglou’s first honour as Celtic manager and provided the springboard for the success that followed.

    BRINGING HOME THE TITLE
The main aim for all Celtic fans at the start of the season was to find a way to wrest back control of the league that they had dominated for so long.

It wasn’t an easy task with the vast turnover of players that the club witnessed during the summer and January windows, but in the end, the manager succeeded in style.

A 32-game unbeaten run from September to the end of May resulted in the Scottish Premiership heading back to the East End of Glasgow, with crucial and memorable wins along the way.

There were plenty of late winners including in away games against Aberdeen and Ross County, as well as home ties against Dundee United and Dundee.

Two wins and a draw in the Glasgow derbies helped ensure the team won the league by a four-point margin, with both victories against the Glasgow rivals going down as unforgettable highlights in the season.

When the league was lifted on the final day in a rousing 6-0 win over Motherwell at Celtic Park, it encapsulated the remarkable season and achievement of the players over the course of the year.

It was all done through the immense dedication and incredible detail that the manager put into his work, reinvigorating a football club and building success and memories that will live long in the minds of fans throughout the world.
