If he comes, I'd like him to be playing DMF primarily. That way, the starting XI would have one more tall player.

Reading the Shalke fans messages - they're gutted they can't keep him, wish him well and understand that if it's for financial reasons, they must not buy him.

Some have questioned why they cannot afford €6m for a player they know will continue to do well for them though.

I'd love him on a loan to buy.

Loan to buy would be ideal. Still hope we sign another midfielder though, if this one does go through.

By all accounts, we will not sign him if ange's motto is true , "we only want players who want to be here " I believe he had the chance and chose shalke over us .

I think this is the point... At this stage everyone is responding to the rumours, about the rumours of the rumours... I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was never actually seriously looked at by us, let alone attempted to buy/loan. And I'd be very surprised if he ends up here...

For me this guy would be massive for us and would tick two boxes with cover for CDM and CB.

On paper it makes sense, would help fill two positions. Loan to buy option would be ideal.

Think if he is to move city would probably looking to sell rather than to loan. His contract was set to end this summer so city extended it by a year and then loaned him out with an option to buy. So as his contract will run out next summer doubt they are going to keep repeating that.

Unless they extend his contract again.

He has to move on from city. Most Japanese players find it hard to settle in Europe can't be easy for him moving every year to a different European country. Really hope we get him as I think he could be very good at CDM for us. Although I suspect he could end up at a bundesliga team

Ko Itakura admits he is "happy" that Celtic are interest in landing the defender again this summer.

The Manchester City defender looks to have no shortage of options this summer after Schalke turned down their option to buy.

The Parkhead side have been named as an interest party this summer, with SC Freiburg, Fulham and Bournemouth reportedly waiting in the wings.

The 25-year-old was linked with a loan move to Celtic last summer before opting to take his chance in 2. Bundesliga.

He is currently featuring for Japan alongside Kyogo Furuhashi and Dazien Maeda as he plans his next move.

And speaking ahead of Monday's clash with Brazil, he conceded he was delighted to be mentioned alongside sides like Celtic.

When asked about interest from Parkhead during the pre-match press conference, he said: "I'm very happy to hear that story because I've seen it in the news.

Firstly, I want to go where I am needed. I haven't decided on a team yet, no.

"I want to help myself by taking for myself before I decide to go

Surely hearing good things about Celtic from his Japan team mates and CL football has to be a massive carrot.
