Well, if we're looking to trigger a buy-out clause on a permanent move versus a loan it might be a game changer in a transfer, but this just feels like lazy journalism to me...

I'd love it, but too many transfer windows with Celtic have left me a very cynical boy...

 

You may be right. I’m not sure tbh, although would Schalke have paid a loan fee if they’re now not even willing to pay a relatively small transfer fee post-promotion?

Possible we didn’t make a move, I suppose it’s all speculation.

 

Just watched his highlight reel from the season at Shalke.

I'd * love him here. Him and CCV for £11m would be tremendous.

I think we need two center backs (including CCV) in this window if we're going to take Europe seriously.

If we could bring him in to replace both Jullien and Bitton it would be great business. His ability to play both CB and DM would see him get plenty game time and, as @Mr Shelby said above, he offers something a bit different at CB in that he’s more comfortable stepping out and breaking the lines.

 

Looked a good player last year. Haven't watched him in Germany but although I liked what I saw in his clips when we were linked last summer.....ideally I want a bit of a pacey, dominant monster....preferably left footed as well..

 

Anyone watched him to see if he’s decent? Feels like he’s been linked for ages

 

We need a CB and we need a defensive mid so 4mill is small money for a player who can cover both..

Feel like it might be one Japanese too many. Can't really justify that just feel like we should maybe look elsewhere. The quoted fee is quite steep for someone coming in as predominantly a backup. Plus I'd rather the 6 we buy to be more physically imposing.

are you implying it's some kind of racial issue? Obviously i would feel the same with any other country, especially one that has international games outwith the assigned UEFA schedules. Again, like I say, beyond the issue of call ups I can't really justify it, it's just a feeling I have that it wouldn't work out and would be one too many.

Would definitely take Itakura on loan if the opportunity arises but I agree we should be mindful of too many as some of these guys will be playing internationals on the other side of the world that could potentially leave us spread thin for league games. Should be keeping tabs on that market long after Ange leaves though. Think someone said on here they might be about to hit a golden generation of talent.
