I really liked 30 Days of Night - one of the better vampire efforts!

Very overwhelming, which I guess is kind of the point, lol. Had to sit through it twice to take it all in, esp as have to rely on AD, but really well done.

    Dr Strange 2

Meh. Apart from Shang-Chi, the MCU really has lost steam since Infinity War. The biggest takeaway was the beginning of the inevitible bleeding between X-Men and MCU, which is kinda depressing thought of trying to shoehorn a Logan or Deadpool into a PG world.

    Top Gun: Maverick

This was pretty impressive, and yeah, little bit cheesey but overall enjoyed the ride. Would say to those who haven't seen the original, should really do so, it will make much more sense than to go into this one cold. Yeah, there are mostly all new characters, but a big part of the arch does mean so much more and invested from awarenesss of what happened in the first, nearly 40 years ago now. I feel old, lol.

Just watched Morbius and can wholeheartedly agree that it is indeed dire.

    Everything Everywhere All At Once

Was utterly mental and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I absolutely loved it. Film of the year for me. I couldn’t stop smiling for almost the entire movie. Such a refreshing take.

Especially compared to the other 'multiverse' film out there at the moment, Dr Strange, Everything EVerywhere is so, so much better in every way. Have sat through E,E,AAO 3 times now.

    Men

Pretty solid psychological horror definitely did a number on me, and the closing sequence is all kinds of messed up.

Just watched Jurassic World Dominion. Thought it was a load of *.

Huge fan of Jurassic Park but think it's time to let the franchise rest now.

Amazingly fun and refreshing in the age of CGI. The fact that they actually went out and learned to fly those planes really shows in the film. It's cheesy in parts, but that just adds to the magic of it all. 80s films often depicted ordinary people in fantastical ways, and this was a great throwback to that. 9/10.

    Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
Massively disappointed with this one. It seems to be a film for the TikTok era, trying to explore #deep ideas with the least amount of intellectual depth possible, partly due to the constant decontextualisation of ideas.

The underlying theme of the film, that being that everything is meaningless, is a rather eyerollingly boring, chiefly adolescent viewpoint, whose greatest appeal seems to be with the Reddit skeptic crowd of Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens.

The film is original enough to earn praise, shallow enough to be understood by most viewers, and produced well-enough to avoid being laughed at. Beyond that, there's not much to it. 3/10.
