Been in a few establishments whilst being overdressed. Had to wipe the feet on the way out.

West is a bit more safe, but Catholic enclaves in the North & East are suspicious as * and deservedly so I suppose. Areas like the Short Strand and Ardoyne are very insular, tight-knit and quick to spot an outsider. West Belfast is more used to republicans from abroad visiting as that's usually their go-to.

Plot twist, it's a really friendly bar and the area is full of tourists, the barman and punters just like playing games with folk to out a bit of fear in them and have a laugh as you leave.

Eventually I came to a pub, rough as you can get and I walk in with a suit on. I would have left but I was busting so I bought a drink took a * then got out.

It was late 90s at the time. Maybe only about 3 years after it all calmed down. You may be right. Maybe they were just ripping the * out of scared young lads. But it was scary even at that. We were scared anyway at the time I remember that much. Very * scared

I watched the Scotland v England Euro group game in a boozer in Jesmond. I was the only guy with a Scotland top on and the place was absolutely rammed. Upon entering the bar, the bouncer gave me a look and said you’re brave. Thankfully I was already half * and with my mate who had his England top on, so didn’t experience any trouble. Although I do wonder what would’ve happened had we scored was winding them all up when I left, footballs coming home…to Scotland

Probably the fact I don't walk into boozers. Boozers walk into me.
