Perfect opportunity to introduce my eldest to a game at Celtic Park. Fancy the Norwich game personally.

Yeeeees, brilliant. Last time they were in Kufstein, about half an hour away from me. Have to find out where they are going to be this time.
More and more UK teams are chosing here for pre season, the facilities are second to none with the weather being hot, but not Spain type muggy etc.

As we announced yesterday, Celtic will play a number of friendly matches in Austria in July as part of our pre-season training camp and we are pleased to now confirm that at the end of the camp we will then visit the Czech Republic to meet Czech first division side Banik Ostrava, after being invited to celebrate the club’s centenary year, in a specially-arranged anniversary match on Wednesday, July 13.

The club were founded in 1922 and the Hoops will travel to their Mestsky Stadion in Ostrava to mark the special occasion for the Fortuna:Liga club.

Banik arose in the coal-mining community of the town and, like the building of Celtic Park, the fans of the club helped build their first stadium.

The Hoops will be based in Austria for the bulk of the 10-day training camp which will start during the first week in July in preparation for the 2022/23 season and more game dates will be added in due course.

On return from the training camp, the Hoops will then take on Blackburn Rovers at Celtic Park on Saturday, July 16 with a 12.30pm kick-off for the first game of the new term at Paradise.

Then, Norwich City will head north with the Celts welcoming the Canaries for a 3pm kick-off at Celtic Park the following weekend on Saturday, July 23 – both games will be included on the 2022/23 Season Ticket.

A shame its not Kufstein, where they had been in 2013

Stegersbach East of Graz , then thats about a three hour drive for me from the Tirol. Hopefully theyll arrange a game maybe in Salzburg which will just be an hour away.
The kids want to fly over and take a game in, so keep refreshing to get any info.

Half of may and all of June off for the lads.

If that's not a rest that the Bhoys need, I don't know what is.

Slightly surprised we haven't taken advantage of the extra time off to do the Asia/America thing. But not all that fussed, got the Australia thing later.

I'll assume a couple closed doors games during the Austria trip. And I'd expect another announced within the UK as well in second half July.

How much rest will they actually get? Internationals start in a week. Scotland could play 5 games, I can easily see McGregor playing 3 if they beat Ukraine with Taylor, Turnbull and Ralston possibly getting time. Then CCV, if he is with us next season, I think will get 2 out of 4 for USA, Maeda and Kyogo will be playing for Japan in June and July, the same goes for GG, JJ and Abada.

Think it only ends up being an extra two weeks but the main difference is we aren’t playing crucial qualifiers in pre season and can build ourselves up to a good level by the time the group games start

Legia Warsaw are believed to be considering a friendly with Celtic to give legendary keeper Artur Boruc the ultimate farewell.

The 42-year-old will leave the club this summer and is yet to announce whether he will retire from the game.

He was presented with a commemorative sword from fans in his homeland and is to be honoured with one final appearance in a friendly before the start of the new season.

Boruc made over 100 appearances across two spells for Legia and won two league titles almost 20 years apart.

And reports in Poland suggest Legia might approach Ange Postecoglou 's team to play a game against the Hoops, where he collected six major honours in a five-year spell before being transferred to Fiorentina 12 years ago.

Boruc's last game for Legia and possibly in football, was in February in a relegation clash against Warta Poznan.

He was sent off for attacking Warta player Dawid Szymonowicz, after he impeded him from kicking the ball up the park.

He then shoved a cameraman who was filming him walking off the pitch and the Polish FA banned him for three games and fined him £5,000.

Now he will be hoping to make his final bow in front of Legia fans, with Celtic a possible opponent, depending on their hectic schedule.

Done, signed! The Baník annual match, the main highlight of the club's centenary celebrations, will take place on Wednesday 13 July at the Ostrava Municipal Stadium! Slezan opponent? Yes, the famous Celtic FC! Ticket sales for this match have already started in the Ticketlive network. From Monday, it will also be possible to buy tickets in the FCB Fanshop in Forum Nová Karolina.

Fifty-one-time Scottish champion, winner of the most prestigious PMEZ club trophy in 1967, one of the world's oldest football clubs and, last but not least, a club with a renowned fan base. This is Celtic FC, Baník's opponent in the annual July match.

"We are glad that the long negotiations have been completed and that today we can say with certainty that Baník will play against Celtic," said Matěj Šturala, director of the centenary celebrations of Baník and one of the main organizers of the annual match.

Miner considered the opponent's choice long and carefully, and the choice eventually fell to Celtic. "I don't think we could have made a better choice. Celtic is one of the most famous European clubs, Glasgow is an industrial city similar to Ostrava and Celtic fans are very similar to the miners' club in their dedication, " said Matěj Šturala.

Baník did not have much choice with the deadline. As the European Under-19 Championship is taking place at the Municipal Stadium in Ostrava until Sunday, July 10, and Celtic is once again concentrating in Austria, the choice fell on Wednesday, July 13, when the Scottish big club returns home.

Celtic, whose goal is defended by English legend Joe Hart, is the current leader of Scotland's top competition. "I believe that we will welcome Celtic as an old-new Scottish champion and participant in the UEFA Champions League group stage," said Matěj Šturala.

Advance ticket sales for the Baník - Celtic match have already started in the Ticketlive network . From Monday, tickets will also be available for purchase in the FCB Fanshop at Forum Nová Karolina. Ticket prices will range from 490 to 1000 CZK. The entrance fee also includes a special annual scarf created on the occasion of this match, which was designed by the mining ultras and which every visitor to the match will receive upon entering the stadium.

Celtic are to take part in a special match in Poland to honour former Hoops goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

The club has been invited by Legia Warsaw to take part in the special Tribute match on July 20, 2022 and we will travel to Poland to play in a match which will also act as an important part of our pre-season arrangements.

Artur was with Celtic for five years, wining three League titles, one Scottish Cup and two League cups. He was also part of the Celtic team that reached the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in consecutive years.

The keeper has given Legia Warsaw eight years of his career in two spells there and also played between the sticks with Fiorentina, Southampton and Bournemouth.

The former Celt is also still the most capped Polish goalkeeper with a record 65 international caps.

Celtic captain, Callum McGregor said: “Artur is a huge character and was a massive part of Celtic for a number of years performing brilliantly for the club domestically and in Europe and he will always be so highly regarded by everyone here.

“We are looking forward to playing our part in this tribute to Artur, something he richly deserves after such a long and successful career covering Legia Warsaw, Celtic and a number of other clubs.
