Brown is a legend, without question.

Could easily have some sort of memorial for the entire Invincible Treble winning team at some point down the line. Whether or not you'd give someone a statue isn't the criteria I'd use personally anyway.

    Actually a good shout.

As mentioned above about guys like Ronnie from the lions, perhaps on their own not legends in the same way Auld, Jinky McNeill etc are, but as a squad/team they all do.

For me the lions are immortalised through the jinky, McNeil and stein statues anyway.

So yeah, not a bad shout that at some point we get some sort of wall/memorial/plaque or something that celebrates those quadruple trebles. Because although I wouldn't call Rogic a legend, he's certainly one of the most talented we've had in many a year and contributed massively to those years.

Not for me. Brown isn't in the same class ability wise.

Legend for me = ability + achievement + loyalty. Brown was a good player, but nowhere near Larsson or Jinky.

We’re not talking about the greatest XI here, we’re talking about legendary players and what constitutes a “Legendary” player.

I’m not gonna sit here and debate Brown’s achievements at Celtic, they’re there for anyone to go read if you don’t know them.

    He’s a legend. End of.

I know, and I posted what constitutes legendary to me, which includes ability.

    Does it matter really?

I'm personally not hung up if he is or isn't, he just gave me wonderful memories and iconic moments,

he was a great servant and a great leader and captain and for a very long time , he was also a very good individual player who gave 100% in every match for the 11 or 12 season s he was there , so for that alone he will be classed as a legend by most but to other s a legend is someone who was a great player and stood out above the rest like Larsson, mcgrain, jinky, Lennox lubo and on his day I would put Rogic in that bracket, love broony but don’t think he stood out from the rest so can see why some people don’t think he is a legend

Broony's ability is quite clearly underrated, even by our own support.

Great player when on his game.

A languid slow paced disappointment when not on his game - the recent semi against Sevco as a prime example.

I prefer to remember his better games, vital match winning assists and spectacular goals.

If he had the right manager and coaching for longer than Rogers and Ange he could have been right up there with real legends.

A fantastic player who will be remembered fondly and the bad performances will be long forgotten as we talk about the Aberdeen cup final, numerous Sevco skelpings etc etc.

Broony was a quality player, aye his final season he was a bit pish but he had been good up til then and heavily adapted his game with age to carry on playing.
He had ability as a player, ability as a leader, with us for 13 years when he could have left and won 22 trophies including captaining 9 in a row. I'd call him statue worthy.

Was Tam Burns a top player for us? I was only wee when he played for us but from what I gather he was a good player, but not spectacular.

And he's as big a Celtic legend as any of them.

Think that's unfair mate. Not being in the same category as Jinky or Larsson is no indication of being a bad player. FWIW, I'd say Brown was a really good player on his day, as well as a great servant for the club.

Do you consider Neil Lennon a Celtic legend (managerial antics and comments aside)? He won Player of the Year twice, same as Brown, captained the club, won 5 titles out of 7 in a more competitive era, UEFA cup run, etc.

Is the right answer but if we just left it at that we wouldn’t have a message board :)

Larsson and Jinky were attacking players and those type of players always get more attention for their best attributes. Broony was often great at what he did. 5 different managers regularly saw him as a first choice pick, not many players can do that. I also think it was a recurring theme that Broony was the driving force in the team, with fans often commenting on how we won more often if he played. Last season aside, we always seemed to miss him when he wasn’t playing. Along with his playing ability there are the intangibles we don’t always see as fans. What he did to support and lead other players in the dressing room for example, and how almost everyone said he set the high standard in training.

I did consider Lennon a legend, but admittedly that perception has been seriously soured.
