It's so * negative. Bring them in now and make the money back later if they continue to perform.

We’ve not had a proper wage cap in 6 years troops.

If he’s still debating about what to do then him getting back in the international fold while playing here could be massive for us.

    It's always massive for us..

Hate the snobbery of international manager's that won't pick player's because they play in Scotland..

We wouldn't of kept Van Dijk but it certainly didn't help whilst he was here that he got no call ups when he was more than ready..

There’s utter dross that’s been in they squads before him like that useless dumpling the Huns subbed on, on Wednesday night.

Good to see him back in the fold.

Called up the next week when signed for Southampton... never even played a game for them by that time. Fannies.

Aye. Was meaning more in the context of this deal.

International recognition was probably the only thing he hadn’t achieved while here. Should hopefully work in our favour now that he knows he’s first choice and getting international recognition instead of thinking he’ll need to go to the EPL for a call up or wit.

Absolutely baffling how he’s not been in their starting 11 never mind the extended squad. He was arguably the best centre half in the Championship last season if you’re to believe Bournemouth fans.

Not since Rodgers came in mate, we have a budget obviously and don’t go mental but we’ll pay more if we think its worth it.

Don’t think we have since Sinclair and Dembele but its not set in stone like it was when we raved about the structure and wage caps.

It’s on an as and when basis.

When he signed there was loads of * saying he was unimpressive for them, a doubt any of us watch Bournemouth regularly never mind last season but we signed three players last day of the window in Jota, CCV and Giakoumakis and a lot was labelled as panic signings to get the numbers in.

Jota was flash and no substance, CCV unimpressive and GG a freak season and if he was any good he wouldn’t be £2m. On reflection, the best day of a transfer window we’ve ever had.

I think with the yanks current manager they often pick us based players, I wouldn't be surprised if not being born there doesn't help him. They need to be better because if they had conceded 1 more goal they wouldn't have qualified

Would also help us for fees as well, if they got call ups.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember there was someone on here that kept going on and on when we got them that Jota was a stupid signing as he had no end product!

No doubt many of those that were saying CCV was unimpressive in the championship for Bournemouth were basing it on that highlights show that pretty much only shows the goals, and if all you are seeing is the team losing goals it's going to be pretty hard for any defender to impress!

I was a bit unsure about CCV myself. Spent the last 4 years on loan getting regular game time in the championship but lots of clubs kept him for only half a season. They must have seen him play and thought worthy of brining in and starting but nobody wanted to pay up. Spurs didn't seem to want him either. He's been great but I can understand the club wanting a loan to buy before signing permanent. I hope he does sign with us but I'm not sure he will.

Maybe his wages at Spurs along with the transfer fee put clubs off, or he didn't want to move to the championship. I can't say I knew much about him before he came, so I don't really know what his situation was, but I think the fact he has, to the best of my knowledge, only 1 year left on his spurs contract, along with the season he has just had and the chance to play in the CL, leaves us in a better position to sign him than those championship clubs. Ultimately the decision is his, so if he gets offered more to play elsewhere he may not sign, but I hope he does.

Absolutely mate. As regards CCV though I had a good look on their forum and they all unanimously thought signing him for £5m (the fee doing the rounds at the time to make it permanent) was an absolute no brainer. Some saying he was one of if not the best defender in the league. I know outside Bournemouth CCV was largely regarded as a sketchy player and had a bad game for Spurs in Europe before we took him.

If he backs himself, should sign a deal here on which will still be on great money, get to play in the champions league and also win trophies and I’m sure in a couple of years time he would still get a move to the premiership but probably to a bigger club than the likes of Fulham. Give him a couple more years to establish himself before then.

CCV is excellent, but not worth 10 million even after add-ons:giggle1:
