I loved big Rogic and he was a great servant to the club but, for me, the term legend is banded about too easily and I would class him as a Celtic great. A legend for me would be the likes of Henrik and all of the Lions

None taken and I totally disagree. :56:

Can’t be Aberdeen type patter when talking about guy who won four trebles in a row as well as securing us the Invincible treble.

There is no right or wrong answer on this one IMHO. But for me he is a Celtic legend. He was one of my favourite players to watch playing for us this past decade. An absolute joy to watch play the game when in full flow and gave us so many great memories. Plus of course that invincible treble winning goal.

Wow one or 2 good games in Europe and you are a legend here, * *. Some words get bandied about far too often these days

Of course he's a legend. We will pass stories down generations to come about his cup final goals in an invincible treble season clinching the treb as lightning struck.

    His 9 years service

    Silky skills

    Skelping of the huns

He's the definition of a legend.

His final season he turned it on. Scored a vital goal at ibrox. Goal of season at Tannadice and so on.

I don't even put Brown in there.

Not a chance, for me. Yes he scored some big goals for us and was a great servant, with a phenomenal trophy haul, but he was far too inconsistent and failed to make a big impact in Europe. He had as many great seasons as he did average/poor.

I'd put him and Forrest in the same bracket. Obviously better than 'cult heroes' but not legends.

Brown is the only legend since Larsson.

    Agree with this.

To me, a cult hero is someone who was a bit * at times but people loved them. Or someone who made a big impression but only stayed for a brief period of time.

You certainly have high standards. McStay just scrapes it? He’s the epitome of a Celtic legend.

aye he has the trophies,performances,9 years, played a massive part in the invincible team ,quadruple treble.I can see why somebody' may say othewise. He was first class this year and during the invincible treble yet his first couple of years were a write off and the rest he had moments of brilliance yet never found the level of consistancy whether it was down to injury or fitness or not being picked.
Someone said in the rogic thread that they didnt think he had reached his potential here and I think there is a degree of truth in that ,if he had played like he had in the two seasons I mentioned throughout his time here, there would be no debate

No because he didn’t contribute to the overall success of the squad.

Knew as soon as I seen this thread title it was gonna be neck and neck with the votes. As already said, it's down to interpretation. I'm on the Yes side, but can understand a lot of the points made from the other side.

One of the most unique players of my lifetime. All the moments of magic over the years, the stunning goals and outrageous skills.

That image of him running into the crowd after the invincible treble goal is what clinches it for me. That's the moment that clinched legendary status.

It's a no from me, Legend is a status not to be bandied about easily. I also feel that during his 9 seasons here he probably only had 4 really good ones. If he is a legend then so are Lustig, Forrest and McGregor and I would put all 3 of them above Rogic.

Big Mulgrew called him velcro heid on open goal yesterday :56: Also said he had OCD and would set everything out in his locker and then they would just mess it up.

Would agree that he’s a Celtic great rather than a Legend.
