Done very well of late but he just doesn't have the pace for where we want to be, which is improving further..

In our set-up I dont think you can afford to have 2/3 guy's in the side with a lack of mobility as it stands out. Which is why it sticks out like a sore thumb when Turnbull and Rogic have played the 8's or Rogic and O'Riley. Then you add in Taylor and as good as these player's are or have shown individually....we are too one paced when we want to be a high energy, pressing side..

    It just doesn't fit..

I think he could continue to surprise a few.

I seen enough of him playing at Killie to predict that he would become a steady left back for us and i think he is the kind of player that in maybe a years time could be a regular and we could look back on and remember the time when we thought he wouldnt cut it.

I do agree that if better quality is available then we should look to bring it in, as with any position, but he is still relatively young and in fairness to him he has turned up in some big games for us.

Going by statistics Juranovic is a better dribler, crosser and at switching play with long balls. All important stats for a wingback and the reason why I rate Juranovic higher than Taylor just now. Taylor is the better defender. Short passing they are pretty similar, Taylor better at key passes, Juranovic got better passing %, but both sitting pretty high given their roles in the team.

Maybe in footballing ability but unfortunately he will never be able to develop the pace that Juranovic has. That's what really separates them in my opinion.

Juranovic has way more than pace over Taylor (as much as he has improved this season). Namely; presence, class, distribution and power.

Ralston has the physicality but Taylor is a far better footballer, imo.

Taylor is a better footballer than Ralston. He has far more technical ability and he's a better defender. Ralston is more powerful.

Juranovic is far better than the two of them, though.

Taylor on the ball isn't my issue. Think he's got a lot better technically.

Hes just too one paced and weak as well. Mind you if he had both those attributes he wouldn't be here :giggle1:.

I'd say he was "better" only because of his pace when it comes to Taylor.

I think Taylor is actually a good footballer (particularly his clever movement in the final third at times), just limited by pace, and so much so he needs a replacement.

If Taylor’s athleticism was anywhere near his footballing brain he’d be nowhere near Celtic. Intelligent as * player who’s technically tidy, just has no pace unfortunately. I really like him though and he’s adapted to his role in Ange’s team as well as anyone.

Unfortunately he’ll continue to be brutally exposed when we play at a higher level.

Sorry Doofy, but you’re talking out of your * there, massively!

Go look at the assists and scoring charts for starters…

    Can’t argue about JJ

Take out the pens and JJs stats are about the same as Taylor's for assists and goals but Taylor's better for key passes.

Nobody has worked harder in a Celtic jersey this season, especially 2nd half of the season where he has added quality to that work ethic .

Wouldn’t say ‘far better’, but he does shade it, for me.

Passing and crossing wise, he’s nowhere near Ralston. But positioning and retaining the ball, Taylor’s class at.

And he’s realised how to use the strength he has the last 3/4 months, he’ll use his size to outmuscle players now by shouldering into they’re hips rather than being hammered cos he’s small. His football brain is very good, his physical size and pace is what lets him down. But he’s up there with Calmac and Jura for positioning and being a clever player. It’s things he can’t control that lets him down, mostly pace and height.

I want a Juranovic class level of player but Ralston style at LB to come in. Cos Taylors a mini Jura for me but not as good, if we have that as back up but a classier version of Ralston on the left we’ll be sorted

Perfectly put, and I’ve come to the realisation too like someone posted above. If he had the things we’re wanting him to have extra he wouldn’t be here. Think I would actually prefer to have a player like Taylor who potentially (akin to lustig) will be here for 5-7 years and always give maximum effort at a 7 rating upwards than someone outstanding who’s here for 2 years max then leaves us with the issue of replacing them.

If he had Ralstons body he’d be up there with Tierney I think. He doesn’t though, and that’s why he can’t go up a level than he is. But I absolutely want him being a guy in our squad, cos he follows the manager’s instructions to the letter. And he supports those around him, and he organises those around him. He’s worth his place with us, but we can do better as well.
