For me semis have a lot more drama than finals, more passion and less cat and mouse. We will win.

Decent performance that and way more comfortable a victory then I thought it might be before kickoff. They never really looked like scoring at all. Not sure if they even had a single shot on target in the 90 minutes whereas we had a few really good opportunities above and beyond the 3 goals we did score. The pitch was absolutely shocking which certainly affected the quality of our play and the game in general but overall a good solid dominant performance today.

Samaras had far better touch than GG has at present. You need to watch some past highlights.

You were not saying that with his 2 goals and assist against Rangers.

I adored big Sammy :49: G scores the craziest goals but I suppose that's what we want him to do and to always be where he is when the opportunities come. Big Sammy when he was in the mood was a sight to behold :100:

It was sloppy, but a good team knows how to win ugly. And that’s what happened. The class prevailed. The training shone through. It was a good gritty win. Ugly, yep. Sloppy, yep. But a deserved win. Did DU even have a shot? Speaks volumes.

We've won ugly quite a few times this season and also turned on the style on other occasions.

It's that mixture that wins trophies.

Dunno if it's just a coincidence, but in the last 3 games we've had 6 goals from crosses and set pieces. You can't break teams down every week with decent play, good to see we're getting goals from crosses and set plays.

A goal from a corner (Calmac) and a cross (GG) last evening, a corner at the weekend (Maeda) and cross (OG), and a set piece goal (CVV) and cross (Cal mac) the midweek St mirren game.

Really? Off the top of my head he wrongly disallowed a goal and denied us two stonewall penalties.

The yellow for Hatate was right enough, although I was shocked he never sent him off.

He’s a blatant cheating hun *, it’s not even up for debate.

I personally didn't think it was that sloppy for a cup game. We played really good football at times. The second half was a little more scrappy but to be expected when United have to try and do something, and with the state of the pitch.

Overall we controlled the game, the only half chances they had was from some of our passing about at the back really. Aside from that we defended well, lots of good working back from Jura, Taylor, Maeda etc.

Playing in Scotland has really been a new experience for our boys from Japan.

Apart from the physicality and the harsh tackling involved they have also experienced something else that has heightened the intensity in the games they play. Some of their opponents can be down right mean and unsporting in what they do and say, which was probably much less so in Japan. Not only that but also the invective coming from opposing team supporters, which is not the same in Japan.

Lastly and importantly, playing on these grounds in Scotland is now different to playing on grounds in stadiums in Japan where there is more distance from the fans, with a running athletics track between the pitch and the seated fans.

They are much, much closer to the fans, the faces, the raw emotion, the cheering and the abuse. They are now playing in close, football cauldrons each week. So their total football playing environment has become a huge learning curve to overcome and in a short matter of time. They are dealing with other personal pressures also that their team mates are not.
