Leicester City today confirms the departure of Head of Senior Player Recruitment Lee Congerton, following a three-year spell with the Club.
Having joined City from Celtic in May 2019, Lee played a central role in the Club’s player recruitment operation, helping to shape the squads that secured fifth-placed Premier League finishes in the last two seasons and the Club’s first ever FA Cup in 2021.

He will shortly take up a senior position with Serie A side Atalanta.

Leicester City would like to place on record its thanks to Lee for his contribution to a successful period in the Club’s history and wish him every success in his future career.

'Plenty of names have been touted for the role in recent weeks, but Congerton has now emerged as a new contender, per a report from The Telegraph. The 50-year-old, who previously had spells as a coach with Chelsea and Liverpool, has been in charge of senior recruitment at Atalanta since moving to Italy.

Congerton was influential in bringing Rasmus Hojlund to the Serie A outfit from Austria before he was sold to Manchester United in the summer transfer window. A report from The Athletic back in September outlined that Congerton believed the club should hold out for €100million (£87.5m) for the Denmark international's services - a sum far below the £72m Atalanta eventually banked.

While Congerton, who has held similar roles at Celtic and Leicester City, is under consideration for a key role in Ratcliffe's new regime, plenty of other names remain in the frame.'

There's literally dozens of idiots like Congerton, mincing around Europe, stealing a wage for a job that ANY * can do, with a decent level of football knowledge and a WiFi connection.

Ross Wilson comes to mind too. I was absolutely shocked (and delighted) when Sevco took him on board. Then just shocked when he got the Forest gig.

I don't these clowns land these jobs based on their records. More likely on their ability to save money, and how many contacts they have.

It's the singular reason why Arsenal tried to headhunt Lawell.

Somebody asked a question the other day, how Lawell, with all these gigs in Europe he has, isn't ashamed to be in European company with our Euro results. It's because said company are more impressed by the club's balance sheet that they are football performance. They probably look at him like * Gandalf the Grey.
