Peej, I think everyone on here understands the rivalry and the reasons for the hatred towards sevco and their fans.

However, the celtic board have to rise above that, whether they have these feelings or not, and do what's best for the club on a professional level.

If the Australian organisers approach celtic, inviting them to attend the tournament the reply "only if we don't play sevco" just seems pretty petty to me. I guarantee you the vast majority of celtic fans will watch the game despite what's being said on here.

 

Putting aside the ‘friendly’ aspect of this, it does seem like an odd move.

We’ve got more than sufficient presence in both Australia and Japan to simply tour and play a few friendly’s against sides with their own profile there, which I think would be massively preferable for the fanbase.

 

Seen we’re getting a similar amount of cash from these two friendlies as we do an entire spfl season.

Spfl negotiators need punted.

 

Bet we're making even more from our unannounced japan tour if we win the league and have no qaulifiers

 

The sponsors will be paying for all the flights accommodation and appearance money

 

One good thing about this is they’ve basically bent over to accept being the sideshow and their fans canny handle it, Espanyolification complete

 

If we win title we should parade it before the game

 

We don't have to rise above the Huns
We always are above them

But we shouldn't be facilitating them or helping them with revenue.

Sure the organisers may have wanted both, but we can easily have said no

We could easily have arranged our own, completely separate from them, and still made good business decisions


In fact, I'll go as far to say, this is a bad business decision for the board. It's yet another thing that will drive a wedge between the board and the fans.

Short term, lazy, money is the go to approach by this board. Has been for years. Yet again we see it happen with no care for the fans at all.
They'll get that short term revenue, but inevitably it's another thing that's getting added to the long list of things that this board should be removed from office for.

Mate, i despise everything that the scum stand for and every one of their supporters I have met have been bitter, sectarian bigots. But they are so bitter that it is actually laughable. It makes them a joke in the eyes of most football supporters in this country.

Us showing ourselves as being every bit as bitter is wrong and hopefully we as a club and support are far better than that.

I know you hate the board mate but tbh I personally don't think this decision is a bad one for quite a few reasons.

 

Would love to know how this offers more money than the full spfl season. Whoever’s coming away with this pish is just adding everything together Celtic could make from this and comparing it to the £1/2m prize money you get for winning the SP. Not taking into account you can’t sell 50k seasons tickets worth 10s of millions etc if you don’t have W regular season. Not to even mention prize money from UEFA that comes along with it too.

 

Question is who’s staying up for it

I assume they are just comparing SPFL prize money for winning the league v revenue from this tournament.

To be honest, the cinch deal is garbage. It's embarrassing for the league and the prize money is laughable.

 

We should pull out of this when the leagues won, bury the *.

 

Should not be helping those * make money! We don't need them, we would be a big enough attraction on our own.
