The more I think about it the more I can see Ange going with Bitton and McCarthy sitting and Hatate given a no.10 role with freedom to drift and make things happen. We played Bitton and McCarthy at St. Johnstone on boxing day- I have a feeling Ange will go with that again especially with Ideguchi probably out now as well.

Looking at our run in till the split, there’s probably only 3 games we have that you’d look at and say that’s a definite 3 points. Going to be really difficult but incredibly exciting, starting with tomorrow night. Hasn’t been like this for a wee while. Just need to try keep winning and focus on ourselves.

There are no definite 3 points unless you're wearing blue.

Biggest game of the season so far in my opinion. I fully expect the huns to beat Livingston, so we simply have to win as well. After clawing back two points last week, we now need to be looking to kick on. Absolutely massive for momentum. This will be a very tough night I think.

Normally when we're up against it we go there and produce the goods.

Strachan when it was neck and neck for the League

    Rodgers to win the League

Lennon's 1st game after Rodgers left us in the lurch

    Tomorrow is diet-skelping time..

I also suspect that the reason for a lack of red cards and yellow cards by refs in games is due to referees wanting to appear in control of the games they are in charge of, when submitting their match report to their superiors after the game.

They want to appear competent and completely in control of their domain. The less cards given, or no cards given, gives the impression on the printed page, that it was a game of football totally controlled by that referee and the players abided by his 'perfect' refereeing of the game.

Thus that referee gets allocated more important games , more often, and climbs the ladder, hoping to improve his reputation along the way. His pay scale probably improves as a consequence.

No one rocks the boat and disturbs the status quo.

Less cards means less tribunal time being spent on inquiries so it becomes a win-win situation for both parties.

Meanwhile each week players are in danger of being hospitalised or having their careers ended by such attitudes.

The sooner VAR is introduced so much the better. Otherwise things will not improve.

A visual representation of the same game will most likely present a different scenario with more truth of what went on in that match, that what is written on paper.

I agree with you, but surely that reflects badly on him as a professional player that he has done nothing to improve the situation over time. Learning to head the ball is a fundamental of football and is taught/learnt at a young age.

Nervous for this, worried about the leniency of the ref with their players.

Tbf on paper we don't actually have a bad midfield at all for this game if O'Riley and Hatate click. Massive game for the two lads to step up and I think they will.

Assuming they start together of course.

Let's not fall into the same trap of having a weak second half if we are leading at half time. I hate these 2-1 and 1-0 results. Not for the 3 points but for the anxiety we go through right up to the final whistle.

Which brings me to an example of what I am thinking.

Some time back I went to see Torpedo Moscow play in Melbourne against a good Victorian XI.

The Russians were a well drilled outfit, strongly built, quick, good touch and played very fairly with no undue aggression. They passed the ball about very well, found space, and had the occasional shot from distance. At half time the score was 0-0 and the Victorians were giving a good account of themselves.

With 30 minutes to go the whole scenario changed. It was as if the Russian manager had flicked a switch. His team lifted its game three fold, the tempo was amazing to see. They ended up scoring 7 goals without a response. They blew the exhausted Victorians off the park with mesmerizing team football .

Celtic needs to be able to shift up their gears also halfway through the second half of a game rather than spluttering to the final whistle.
