Ange Postecoglou has paid tribute to Wim Jansen following the sad passing of the former Celtic manager, who has died at the age of 75.

Wim famously managed the club in the 1997/98 season, winning Celtic’s first league title in a decade and famously ‘stopping the 10’.

Speaking today at Lennoxtown, the current Celtic manager said: “It’s sad news for his family, and for our football club and all the organisations he’s been involved with. He’s a massive name in Dutch football, both as a player and a manager.

“I’ve often said that, for all of us, we get the privilege of coming through these clubs and our ultimate ambition is to leave some sort of mark or some sort of legacy and he did that in 12 months.

“The impact he had in just one year at this football club is fantastic. It was a similar journey to mine, from Japan to here, way back then, and he has left an indelible mark.

“And for all of us, what you hope for is that at the end of it, when you stop doing what you love, is that, along the way, you’ve belonged somewhere and you’ve made a mark somewhere, because that keeps everything you’ve done alive, and with Wim, that’s definitely the case, both in Dutch football and particularly here at our club, he will be forever remembered.”

Was truly saddened when I was the news this morning. As well as giving us such a special title in his one season at Celtic he came across as a truly humble and good man. RIP.

When you think of people who made hugely monumental, everlasting and never forgotten club impacts, the likes of Brother Walfrid, Jock Stein, The Lisbon Lions, Fergus McCann, Wim Jansen is there alongside those names for stopping 10 in a row and bringing one of the clubs greatest ever players Henrik Larsson on board

Wim may have lost his life to dementia but Celtic fans won't forget his memory.

Stopping the ten will be spoken by celtic fans for decades to come.

    Hail hail Wim and RIP.

Sad news hearing of Wim passing away. As I've said before on here, we lose part of ourselves when people like him die. I will never forget that year as long as I live. Was at a few games that season, few Huns games, the league cup final at ibrox and this match and the weekend before it at parkhead when we played away. This day thou, such amazing memories being there with my da and young sister. On the pitch I was and got to even kiss the trophy when tom Boyd was running around the pitch with it. Such a relief it was winning it after all them years watching the Huns win it. It's all I'd know since centenary year till I was 18 watching them win league after league. But thanks to Wim, we finally done it. It's one of them ones every Celtic supporter will know exactly where they where and who with thst day. I think we stayed in Glasgow untill the Monday and going home was abit in shock at Wim leaving. But, he came for a short Time and will always be remembered with a smile

    RIP Wim!

He was a shrewd operator. Knew how to build a team and get the best out of the players he inherited.
