I can see him signing for Benfica but being loaned back out to us next season. Similar to the Roberts scenario.

If we get him for £6m it's an absolute steal, but he's to good for Scottish football and he shouldn't be held back from his potential. We can offer him champions league in the first 11, Benfica won't give him that.

Tbf they never gave him a chance and punted him out on loan.

By March, he'd have played more games for us than he has done for Benfica.

His heart will say Benfica, can we persuade his head.

Realistically, is he going to get game time at Benfica? You would've thought if he was going to 'make it' at Benfica, he would've by now.

He could become another player who comes here and leaves too early and fade into obscurity. I don't think that'll happen but I do hope someone is telling him to look at Hooper, Roberts et al where they left the club too soon. And before anyone harps on that we didn't have a clause to buy Roberts, he should've pushed for a move here. He was never making it at City. Honestly believe if he moved here permanently, he would be playing in the EPL right now.

I'm sure we're doing everything we can, it's all we can do...

It's up to him, but if he can help us win the league and secure automatic CL football he will have done his bit..

There was a late Christmas present for Jota at Lennoxtown today (Thursday) as he was presented with the SPFL Player of the Month award for November – an accolade that would normally be handed out over the festive period.

Of course, circumstances dictated that the presentation couldn’t go ahead as scheduled, but the fans’ favourite received the award today as part of a double boost this week after making an earlier-than-expected return to the team following injury when he took part in the 2-0 win over Hibernian earlier this week.

November was a busy month for Jota and Celtic, with the Portuguese winger scoring in both UEFA Europa League games against Ferencvaros and Bayer Leverkusen as well as helping his team-mates qualify for the League Cup final with a win over St Johnstone at Hampden.

The award is all about the league, though, and Jota was instrumental in both of Celtic’s SPFL games played during the month.

He scored an instinctive striker’s goal to open the scoring in the 4-2 win over Dundee at Dens Park and then added another with a sublime left-foot touch of the ball for Celtic’s third in the game.

Then on a day of emotion at Celtic Park as the support celebrated the late, great Bertie Auld in a vital 2-1 win over Aberdeen, Jota opened the scoring again for the Hoops.

Five goals in five games in all competitions meant November was not a bad month for Jota, and he plans to have even better ones ahead

Aye it isn't dead and buried yet..

If he looks at it from a playing point of view. He's been there since he was 8 and they've barely given him a chance..

We've given him a platform to shine and it's worked for both parties. They're only trying to get him back because of what he's done here, the fact they only put a 6 mill release clause also tells you they weren't overly fussed about him going..

But they've got rid of their manager and he's a Lisbon boy/Benfica fan....so the above probably won't even bother him..

Still hopeful.....but definitely less so now. Much less..

The thing is, they never undervalued him at £6M. That's exactly what they valued him at. Jota would do well to remember that.

Now he's done so well at Celtic now they're desperately making all sorts of promises to try and turn the guys head, just because they think they can get a few more million out of him.

Naw.. don't waste a position on a loan player who won't be staying here..

If he doesn't sign permanently, seek out a replacement in the summer.

We win the league and go to CL he will stay. It's as simple as that I think, his value will rocket

Find our either way before the window closes..

    If it's aye, great..

If it's a kick in the baws, get that 6 mill spent on another winger to bed in..

To be honest I'd rather not know until league is won as if it is announced he is going back to Benfica at end of season it will be a massive kick in the tadger and the baws...

Papers saying theres a good chance he stays at benfica , no * sherlock theres always a 50/50 chance the player will leave or go back its as simple as that , the only person that knows is the player himself! I would be very surprised if jota had said he was going back to benfica at the end of the season after 6month , i would also have been surprised for celtic to make a decision this early also , the boys had a terrific 6months but players can do that then fade away the following 6. Think this one will run until april/may time.

If he's seriously considering the next step in his career signing for Celtic is definitely his better option bcoz playing for us he's definitely got more of a chance moving to the English premiership if that's his ultimate goal. If he's happy just playing for his boyhood heroes in Portugal then fair play to him for his loyalty. He needs to think hard about this bcoz he's not guaranteed getting into their team while here right now he is more or less our 1st choice left winger.

I always wait until its confirmed before reacting however this is a player farmed out on loan had to delete his social media because of the abuse he got off their fan base hes come here under a manager who let's him go and express his natural talent win trophies and experience an atmosphere * likely never see elsewhere when he came on on Monday it was a bigger cheer than the goals if he trades that for a chance at the same * I wish him well we've seen this script before with Roberts and forster careers wasted i hope for once we come out better with the talent and allow them to flourish make memories then move on

I hope Cal and Tom point out Paddy’s journey to nowhere. Could have had a great career, but is now being linked to League 1.
