Hopefully get some more solid proof of this tomorrow, or maybe even an announcement.

Aye normally I wouldn't be as arsed but if it's 6 points going into that game still we really have to beat them. Or that'll be it IMO.

But at the same time we can't just sign players with one massively important game in mind. These guys will no doubt help us long term but it's still frustrating.

    * internationals.

Looks a good player, I'm just a bit concerned about signing too many Asian/oceanic players, they get called up to internationals at the worst times!

as they also line up a move for Aussie ace Riley McGree.

McGree is also being eyed with reports in the United States stating the midfielder can be secured on an initial fee of £2.3 million from MLS franchise Charlotte.

The Australian has spent the past 15 months on loan at Birmingham City and received rave reviews for his displays in the English Championship.

Birmingham wanted to keep him and there is other interest south of the border from the likes of Middlesbrough, but Postecoglou has now entered the chase for the 23-year-old.

The Celtic manager took McGree into his senior international squad at the age of just 18 when he was Socceroos boss and he now has seven caps.

Figures quoted in America stated that any concluded deal would rise to a fee of almost £3.5 million with add ons.

Postecoglou has already sealed transfers for Japanese trio Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi joining with all three now training at Lennoxtown ahead of the Premiership resumption against Hibs a week tonight.

See if the £2.3m - £3.5m figures are accurate we must be pretty confident of selling Soro and one of the others from Barkas, Boli and Ajeti or I doubt we would be committing to spending that much on another signing just now.

Especially given we are trying to finalise the Jota and CCV deals, although Jota’s agreed fee seems to keep falling now talk of around £6m and CCV, although £6m and rising keeps getting mentioned others close to Spurs don’t seem to think that’s likely given they were looking for less to sell him in the summer window.

There has also been the links to a few bosmans so I wouldn’t be surprised if although maybe only 2 more are to come in this window if we tie up a few deals for others on pre-contracts.

When he was loaned back by Club Brugge to the A-league in 2018-2020 he absolutely tore it up. At 2.5mil he'd be a good signing, I think he'd do well in Scotland. He's a tough *.

Also, I'm sure this has been posted before, but here's his ridiculous Scorpion Kick goal for Newcastle Jets:

Take the top end of the championship away and England ain’t as flush with cash as people would think if Birmingham can’t come up with 2.3 million to sign this guy which at 23 is bit of a bargain considering he’s a mls player and that leagues always looking for wrip off prices

    https://thewest.com.au/sport/soccer/celtic-emerge-as-favourites-to-sign-mcgree-c-5246035

Riley McGree is poised to join Ange Postecoglou and Tom Rogic at Celtic, with the Scottish giants emerging as favourites to sign the 23-year-old Socceroos midfielder.

Former Adelaide United star McGree is currently with United States Major League Soccer expansion club Charlotte FC after the conclusion of a successful loan spell with English second-tier side Birmingham City.

McGree had been linked with a return to England, with Middlesbrough among those reported to be interested, but Postecoglou's Celtic are now considered his most likely destination.

Several outlets in the United Kingdom have reported Celtic's interest with a transfer fee of between Stg2 million ($A3.8m) and Stg3m ($A5.7m) set to secure McGree's move to Parkhead.

Postecoglou called up McGree to the Socceroos squad in March 2017, but the South Australian was an unused player for World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and the UAE.

McGree did make his national team debut last year, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Kuwait in June.

He has since gone on to make seven Socceroos appearances and became a fan favourite during his time at Birmingham, scoring three goals in 30 appearances before his loan period ended in December.

Postecoglou has already signed Japanese duo Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi in the January transfer window, giving the Hoops boss plenty of midfield options -- including Socceroos ace Rogic -- heading into the second half of the season.

If Ange gets him, and gets the best out of him there is alot of upside, very dynamic and doesn't mind a battle, he'll be very suited to football in glasgow.

That is definitely the case down in England, see the teams at the top of the Championship as well who have money tend to be one of two things, they have the parachute payment and are a yo-yo club between PL and Championship, or someone with deep pockets buys them to get them up to the premiership.

Clubs that go down from the PL and don’t bounce back quickly often find themselves in financial bother because of the squad and wages they have on the books and go chasing a quick return to PL but don’t get it.

In the not to distant future teams like Fulham, Sheffield Utd etc if they don’t get up again quickly will struggle. Fulham are obviously going well just now so may be fine.

This is my thoughts on why sky try keep us down if spfl had a tv deal better than the current one it would have an affect on English league 2,1 and bottom end championship clubs competing with out teams on fees and wages sky keeps us where we are to prevent this from happening

Celtic have clinched the signing of Australian international Riley McGree.

The 23-year-old has agreed to become the fifth January signing for Ange Postecoglou.

And the Parkhead club are set to announce McGree as a Hoops player, subject to international clearance.

The Hoops agreed a fee in the region of £3million with the playmaker’s club Charlotte FC.

Postecoglou took a hands-on role in negotiations and the personal touch helped secure the move.

The Celtic boss knows the player after first drafting him into the Australia set-up when he was Socceroos boss.

McGree looked to be on the verge of a move to Middlesbrough after Birmingham City, where he was on loan, were unable to match the transfer fee or wages for the player.

But the Hoops moved quickly and decisively to wrap up the signing and he follows J-League trio Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda and young Irish striker Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers.
