Amazing how proactive the board is when it comes to signing players that bring in additional revenue streams…

In saying that, would be absolutely delighted with those three. The central midfielder’s Wikipedia said he had a short spell at Leeds.

Maeda and Hatate were named in the J-League team of the year tonight.

The other lad I was hoping we would get was Royotaro Araki who was named young player of the year, becoming only the second teenager to ever score 10 goals or more in the J-League.

I'd love him. He looks a serious player..

We can't sign the whole J League though :fear:

No, but Augsburg have had a period with 3-4 players from South Korea and Japan combined, I think. Used to play as them on FM for that reason.

Araki, Hatate, Maeda, Ideguchi and Jota on a permanent deal and I'll never complain about transfer windows again.

They haven't been proactive since Ki-Sung-yeung was brought in. That's ages ago. * don't even know how to boost shirt sales, and it has to be the manager that does their job for them. Boot in the * for the board, out onto the street!

Yup. This is what I was meaning in the Board thread. This isn't on the board/club making these moves. This is Ange. And the day Ange leaves is the day we will stop doing these deals (if we do complete them).
The clubs happy for others to do their work for them, and reap the rewards. but they won't proactively go out and do the right thing.

Christ, the stupid * had an affiliation with Santos Laguna and done heehaw with that connection. Missed opportunity there.

    Yep.

We should be all over the American market too. Look at how Conor McGregor used Ireland to rinse them.

Wonder if Naka will come over as free-kick coach.

A free kick was practically a penalty when we had Naka

A Japanese football expert has questioned Celtic's interest in Yosuke Ideguchi as he reckons the Gamba Osaka man may even struggle for a work permit.

And some of the potential transfer fees Japan Times sports journalist Dan Orlowitz has seen are INSANE to the J-League fanatic.

As an English language reporter in Tokyo Orlowitz has been happy to help Celtic fans desperate to know about manager Ange Postecoglou's new targets.

Three are lined up for the January window: top scorer Daizen Maeda, versatile Reo Hatate and Ideguchi.

He's not sure where the last man quite fits into Postecoglou's team, however, and given his last spell abroad went awry at Leeds isn't sold on the move.

He told Sky Sports: "I don't know, Ange clearly sees something in him.

"Maybe he saw the amazing goal Ideguchi scored against Australia in the final round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

"But is he a player that can break into the Celtic first team right now? I don't know.

"Is he a player who can even qualify for a work permit in Scotland? That's a very open question right now.

"We don't know if he has the caps or would be able to get an exception.

"If Celtic see him as a project then, low risk high reward, if he joins and settles in well he has a lot of upside.

"And I think Celtic are looking at players with a lot of upside who they can invest a little on and get a lot out of."

Orlowitz reckons J-League clubs will adapt their asking prices accordingly after the success of Kyogo Furuhashi at Parkhead following his summer move from Vissel Kobe.

"If Hatate and Maeda go for anything less than £2.5m to £3m, it's highway robbery," he added.

"These are young players whose future lies with the national team, they just represented Japan at the Tokyo Olympics, could represent Japan at the 2022 World Cup and one or two World Cups beyond that.

"So it's insane I'm seeing numbers like £1.5m for Maeda.

"I've heard that (Kawasaki) Frontale want £2.4m for Hatate, which is fairer. Everyone knows what Celtic paid for Furuhashi.

"All the clubs are going to want to make sure they're not getting done over with an overly inexpensive transfer fee or a free transfer."

All hype and decent links to the Japanese players and all that, we’ll probably end up with Peter Crouch. The celtic way

Hahaha my self imposed ban may be falling apart at that, too. Cannae see us spending money on Araki though, stupidly.
