We were also missing Mcgregor, Giakoumakis and Forrest during that period.

We are in bad shape though.

The squad is really threadbare and has been since August.

It's not like the Invincibles where, if say Sinclair was out, you could still rely on Dembele, Roberts, Armstrong, Forrest, McGregor, Rogic or even Tierney to do something.

Now we're down to such bare bones that if Jota or Kyogo are out we've got very little to fall back on. We might still have better players than the opposition but against packed defences you need quality, and I don't think we're exactly strong in that department.

We're about to go into the toughest period of fixtures ( in terms of quantity) of our whole season with players dropping from an already skeletal squad and expecting to win every game playing at a high intensity.

    It's a real worry.

Looking at the fixture list I'd say this game against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday, away to St Johnstone on 26th and Hibs in the Cup final, look to be our most dangerous fixtures prior to the Hun game. I'm genuinely worried about all three.

Said when we lost Kyogo it would make a massive impact and people said no, I can see it happening again with Jota.

We are in bad shape when the squad is thread bare.

Can see ange going with forrest on the left and abada right, not ideal but at least it leaves kyogo in his best position with his movement. Still plenty of goals in the team there

Last time we started Ajeti through the middle we dropped points. Last time we started Kyogo on the wing, we dropped points. Not the same game, but I wouldn’t move our most effective player to a position he’s shown to be not so effective. Even worse to put that diddy Ajeti in there.

CELTIC are sweating on star man Jota’s fitness for the Premier Sports Cup final on December 19.

And Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou revealed Giorgos Giakoumakis also faces Hampden heartache after being ruled out of the Hibs clash.

Winger Jota is awaiting scan results after picking up a hamstring injury in Thursday’s 1-0 win over Hearts.

Postecoglou said: “Of course it’s always a concern when a player comes off injured.

“Jota’s one who has played every game and he’s one we’d love to give a break to at some point.

“He wasn’t too downbeat. He was hopeful it was nothing too serious.”

Jota is set to miss the Premiership clash with Dundee United, along with Tony Ralston and Stephen Welsh, who have ankle and hamstring problems.

All three were being treated by Celtic medics as gaffer Postecoglou fears bad news just two weeks before the cup final.

Greek frontman Giakoumakis has been out since November 7 with a knee injury.

Postecoglou revealed: “He had to have a clean out of his knee. So he’ll be about two, three weeks.”

Stopper Cameron Carter-Vickers will return for Tannadice, while fellow defender Greg Taylor is nearing a return after his injury worries.

My tongue in cheek point is, don’t start MJ. No matter what the alternative is.

He’s been shocking the last few appearances.

He's been poor, but it's difficult to show from the bench constantly..

Against the Sheep he did well and was through but a foul was given against him for nothing..

Even against Hearts where he have the ball away lots, he put an excellent ball through to Kyogo who in turn fed Forrest who should have scored..

He needs a start and performance to get his confidence up, maybe not Sun but definitely v Betis..

Abada's form has been ropey too.

Feels like this season is now or never for Johnston.

Wouldnt mind seeing moffat given a chance , johnson has had his chances over the last few years and hes very much a mid table winger were they accept 1 good game in 4 as being good enough. He will end up the same as nial mcginn who was the same

Both MJ and Abada have been really poor recently however, I'd start with MJ and, if he's not doing it, change it. We really are threadbare squad wise at the moment and January can't come soon enough

If give Moffat a go, in terms of Abada or MJ then it’s Abada all day for me he’s had more senior games than Johnston despite being 4 years younger

Will be a huge loss if he doesn’t make the cup final , fingers crossed he’s ok for it . Has been brilliant so far and maybe a break won’t do him any harm .

Ange Postecoglou fears Celtic star man Jota will sidelined for the Premier Sports Cup Final – and the New Year Old Firm showdown.

The Portuguese ace sat out the 3-0 destruction of Dundee United at Tannadice after limping off in last week’s win against Hearts.

Postecoglou’s early optimism over the injury has faded though and there are now concerns the 22-year-old will be out until after the winter break.

Celtic face Hibs at Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup Final on December 19 and are gearing up for the clash with Rangers on January 2.

Stephen Welsh and Anthony Ralston are also out – but the pair have a better chance of being involved while Jota is facing a race against time.

Postecoglou said: “We’re saying a few weeks at the moment and he’s obviously keen to come back.

“But out of the three of them he was the most significant injury.

“It’s a blow because, apart from the team aspect, he was enjoying his football and wanted to kick on.

“So it’s a little bit of a blow for him. He’ll work hard in rehab and we’ll try to get him back as soon as we can.”

If he misses the huns game, I could honestly see us starting Maeda.

Expect more injuries incoming. The huns carry that strange luck before any big game they play. Watch hearts have some big injury this week aswel. Unbelievable luck with opposition injuries or crisis.

I'd rather we didn't rush him back, just so they can kick * out of him if it might mean losing him again for the rest of the season.

Besides, having him injured during the transfer window mightn't be the worst thing... :fear::56:
