Has be to be part of our first choice midfield now. Him, McGregor and Rogic will do damage.

I’ve slaughtered him as much as anyone.

That being said he’s genuinely starting to shut me up.

Our MIDFIELD is so much stronger with him in it.

Fair play Nir, fair play indeed…

He’s another that people forget about in his natural position because of recency bias.

Under Deila he was literally our best player for a period as a proper holding centre mid. Breaking up attacks and then keeping his passing crisp and simple. All the Busquets comparisons were flying about then and are now resurfacing as he sticks to what he’s good at and has clear directions from a proper head coach.

He is never a centre half, can’t believe he plays there at international level.

Although he's done great recently, I think we should be aiming for better.

I also think he should never play in Central defence again. Then again, every man and their dug knew that apart from Celtic management.

Postecoglou is unsure if Nir Bitton, who performed well in central midfield against Leverkusen before limping off injured, will be available for selection. However, he intends to make personnel changes in the wake of a draining evening in Germany

I was a bit disappointed to see Nir come off,” he said. “In terms of how he is going to be, I’m not really sure. We will assess him, but he has been pretty influential for us and did well to help set up our second goal in Germany.

“It was disappointing to have to take him off because I just felt we needed him in there just to help us control that middle of the park.

If he's out Soro has to come in for him, not McCarthy

That’s like saying I’d rather crap out a hedgehog than a porcupine.

Nah, Soro is well clear of McCarthy

    - More energy
    - Covers more ground
    - More willing to tackle
    - More aggressive in the tackle (sometimes too rash but otherwise far better than what McCarthy offers)
    - Tracks more runners
    - More mobile
    - Quicker
    - More positive in possession in his willingness to get the ball moving forward

Plenty other more positive attributes over McCarthy on top of this too, just a far better player all round, McCarthy was a waste of a signing in a position CalMac, Bitton and Soro can already perform to a higher standard than him in.

I would agree with this tbh. McCarthy has done nothing of note to instil me with confidence. Considering the wages he’ll probably be on its a waste of a signing imo. I’d play Soro ahead of him.

…And I repeat, I’d rather the hedgehog than the porcupine, but having neither is the only actually desirable option.

Soro is chronic. McCarthy might be worse, but that doesn’t put any shine on having to see Soro run about like a headless chicken, out of position and eventually making wreckless challenges.

Thought he came on and use of the ball was excellent.

Hes been very impressive since coming back in, Im not a huge fan of him, he does have moments but he's been very good of late, especially in midfield.

Him coming on tonight was his 250th appearance for Celtic.

Did well when he came on. Provided a fair bit of calm.

Big man was superb when he came on there, some of his forward passing was sublime. Excellent.
