Signing him permanently is becoming nearly as important as signing Jota.

Celtic have been told it’ll cost around £10million if they want to activate an option to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal.

It was revealed before the US international joined in a deadline day loan deal that Tottenham ’s asking price was just shy of £6million.

Now Record Sport understands that fee would rise to double figures with two separate add-ons.

Tottenham have slapped the figure on the on-loan stopper who signed a one-year extension on his Spurs contract before heading to Parkhead on loan in the final minutes of August.

Carter-Vickers has been an ever present in Ange Postecoglou ’s backline since that dramatic late switch - making 17 appearances including five in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old has won over Hoops supporters with his powerful displays in the heart of defence and admitted last week that he’d be “open” to making the switch permanent at the end of the Premiership season in line with the option Celtic have on his loan deal.

There’s been no early move yet from the Hoops on that front.

Carter-Vickers, who has eight US caps, has spent time on loan at Bournemouth, Luton, Stoke, Swansea, Ipswich and Sheffield United during his six years at Spurs.

And last week he admitted he was enjoying his spell in Glasgow and would consider a longer stay.

He said: “It’s something that I’m open to but I haven’t given it much thought at this stage, to be fair.

“I still have plenty of games left in this season and that is my focus.

“I have really enjoyed it. The staff and the players have been really good with me and that’s helped me.

“It’s still early days but for me personally – and as a team – we’ve got to keep going and keep the consistency.

“For me at the moment, I’m here at Celtic, I’m a Celtic player, so my focus is more on impressing the manager here and trying to get results for Celtic. Anything further than that I haven’t really given much thought to.”

Can they change the price if it was previously agreed?

Not a chance his fee could be 10 million.

He’s free to sign a pre-contract 6 months after the season is done at Celtic and as much as I like him, he’s no Ruben Dias so that’s a pile of nonsense - even for Levy.

    All sounds a bit strange..

So they wanted 6 mill when he was surplus there but activated the year anyway, now they want 10..

Something isn't right here. It was rumoured to be around 3.5 the buyout clause originally..

That doesn't sound accurate at all tbh.

The £3.5 million fee seemed too low for me, but there is absolutely no way it can be as high as £10 million. It's clear Spurs have wanted shot of him for a while, and whilst he's done good with us so far, he's done nowhere near enough to command that kind of value.

Not to mention his contract situation, seen various reports he's either got 6 months or 18 months left on his contract, neither detail he should be suddenly worth £10 million.

I think it'll be somewhere in the middle, around £5 million.

In all honesty whilst I've been really impressed with CCV this sort of change makes me think we should be saying original deal or no deal.

If we see this sort of uptick for CCV what happens with Jota?

If it's choice between signing Vickers or Jota then it's no contest and Jota all day long and winning the league we can sign both of them .

Possibly, which is why it should be original negotiated deal or GTF.

If there is a legally binding agreement that's the only thing relevant surely?

If there isn't then getting better lawyers not CBs is what needs addressed

£10m is bollocks. He’d be a great signing for anything around 5m.

    No chance it's 10m.

    None.

Our board NEVER would have even contemplated a 10m buy out. He wouldn't be here if that was the case.

If anything, one of the "add ons" is an upfront fee for the loan, another could be a fee after a certain amount of appearances.

There's zero chance even both of these could rise to that figure.

Even if this were true... We could always just pull a Sevco, and pay them in installments.

    So, nah.

    No panic buttons.

    The boys a bhoy.

    He's here to stay.

None of the championship clubs he was at wanted him to stay so no way will spurs ask for £10m with 1 year left on his deal. We would only agree to that with a striker.

I think you are most probably right but I do remember £13 million being the price tag quoted for Kenny. Wasn't worth 13 pence.

While I agree Kenny wasn't worth a *, if you combine his Celtic, Everton and Shalke appearances he has over 100 appearances for a top flight team. Everton felt he was worth playing, Spurs don't feel that way about CCV. Burnley basically told them to * off at the price anyway, be lucky to get £2m for him.
